SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Djourou - shame we could not sell him. Frustrating that he still on loan, and probably taking money from arsenal still! Was really hoping to banish and the other players from arsenal forever

Isco, laugh at city!

Baines, I really couldn't care, utd don't really need him, they have Fabio and that other guy to replace Patrice.

Higgy - :rubchin:

as i said they may sign him outright, why would he go there? well, ambition, a bright young manager, playing with bale...sure he wont get CL football for a year, but would expect to get it next year. joe lewis filthy lucre will help too. we are a similar level of attraction to them now.

You never know, may have been basically tied up for a few days and just a case of confirmation but I don't think it's irrational to get worried about someone coming in and hijacking the deal.
this is it.

juve sign tevez, our expert negotiators see our only widely reported compeition for higuain are out of the race, so they then try to lowball madrid, this will drag on and on until someone willing to pay the the extra couple of million quid comes in for him. same old same old, read alonso, mata etc etc. this club is and will remain rotten.

Arsenal will receive £700k loan fee from Hamburg for Johan Djourou. Hamburg can pay extra £1.7m to make it permanent move next summer (Bild)

If David Luiz is not part of Mourinho's plan then we should get him stick him in midfield. Admittedly, he's a bit of a loon, certainly not a CB, but as a midfielder he's a class above Fellaini. Whether its his running style or the way he plays the game, he just reminds of the great brazillian midfielder Socrates, without the 60 a day smoking habit.

Really can't make my mind up on Luiz. Can't settle on whether he's an immensely dislikeable prick or a hugely overrated footballer. Maybe he has both characteristics in abundance and that's what's flummoxing me.

I reckon Baines is worth £15m - £17M.

Bollocks. We're a much more attractive club for prospective signings than Tottenham. Absolutely no question about that.

You have no evidence whatsoever to go on for your conclusion. Give us a link, source, anything... any sort of information to back up this claim if you will? For all we know, we might already have this in the bag. I could go the other extreme and say the only thing remaining is for him to get through his medical. Do I have any evidence for this claim? No, but neither do you. Signing players is not like going to the supermarket and buying stuff. It takes time. £20m odd is being exchanged hands here, and we're not a club who can just throw money around.

Baseless negativity, very annoying.

Most of the transfers that look simple and quick are the result of weeks/months of back room dealing, often while the season is still going. Maybe we need to do more of that

Tbf 1989, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, all we can go on is previous history and we certainly have a history of dithering when it comes to player recruitment.
