Blimey, using the Euros as an example Ramsey is worth £80m. It's not a coincidence that he keeps winning league titles with different teams. I guess he's just been lucky. 50 goals last season in 51 matches., 38 goals in the 31 league games in a piss poor league. In the here and now I'd still take him ahead of any of our strikers.augie wrote:Nos89 wrote:The guy has been part of a title winning team, as a main striker in 11 out of 12 season in 3 different leagues. But you think he's not worth signing for free cos he's 35. The guy is a top class striker with a reputation and presence that was perhaps too big a personality for our team to live with.augie wrote:Nos89 wrote:Which I interpret as the now departed manager Laurent Blanc saw ibrahimovich as the better striker.augie wrote:
(a) cavani wasn't an automatic starter last season and (b) cavani was played out of position on the wing to accommodate ibrahimovich
And bruce rioch felt that john McGinley was a better striker than wrighty.......opinions are subjective. I could also point out that psg got rid of blanc cos they didn't think that he was doing as well as he should - hardly a ringing endorsement of the guy
In the here and now he is a 34 year old (will be 35 in October) striker earning 300k per week - the fact that he won leagues in the past isn't relevant to the here and now cos he is a much older player now. You will probably point to his recent French league titles but, lets be honest here, the French league is piss poor at best.
Lets also look at the recent performances of the player himself.........in the first two games at euro 16 he didn't even have 1 short on target (and one of those games was against Ireland) much less actually score a goal![]()
If his wage reports figures are anywhere near correct, his wage for one year in that shithole will be approx. £15m and that does not qualify as a free signing in my book

He's not been lucky but he's played for the very best teams in those leagues so chances are he would win it as he's quality.
United are not the best team in our league and they won't be dominating it either, the games will come thick and fast and he will be playing at a more intense level, we saw at the Euros that he didn't shine in those circumstances.
It could go two ways but make no mistake, it has the potential to be a massive flop.

Pre season soon starting, 6 weeks until first game, and yes we are being linked with no one

It's the same every pre season mate, nothing to look forward to and Wenger off supplementing his income moonlighting instead of getting us ready for the new season. All our rivals will be off to a flyer and we will be left behind.Redarmy wrote:Pre season soon starting, 6 weeks until first game, and yes we are being linked with no one![]()

Why Oh! Why? The fuckk is our manager sat on his derriere in Paris doing chit chat on TV while all other managers and clubs are wheeling and dealing - I bet he hasn't even noticed some of the players right under his over-long nose. For instance there's a player in the Welsh mid-field ramsey or something - with dyed blonde hair who has played very well and seems like the kind of player missing from the Arsenal mid-field - Actually he looks very much like our own Aaron Flicktricksthatdon'tcomeoff - You know the one who is awful most weeks playing under the mis-guidance of our clueless, hapless wankof a manager - The difference being the former plays under a manager who has managed to galvanise and organise a team made up of mainly non-prem talents, who actually play as a Team and adhere to a pre-set but flexible plan, with accompanying tactics - whereas our own clueless poonani of a manager has destroyed numerous players who absolutely once reeked of potential and given extortionate contracts to players who do not deserve the drippings off Brazilians Gooners Poonani.

Yes mate you have just about summed it all up, all true of course and also made me laugh as well

Re: Is it time for a Summer Transfer Window Thread Yet?
We're not even at pre-season or near the opening of the new term but we can see already that Arsenal will continue the last 10 seasons groundhog routine.
I'm so frustrated at watching it.
Please Mr Wenger leave now.

It's ok lads, we've agreed a deal now on Asano, the new 'Ju Young Park'. Fantastic, another sign of how our 24/7 scouting network brings in the very best players.
Wongas mate in Japan calls him and says, bung us 8m and you can have this guy, he's ok but will sell lots of shirts here......bosh, the deal is done. Arsene Wonga, you are a *unt of the highest order, fuck off out of football and just flick your Beinsport every day you waste of oxygen. I hate you.

I've always been someone that judge's a player on there merits and not the club they were signed from, but I can already tell we have just signed the new "worst signing in arsenal history" forget helder Carter hillier lydersen inimacho or Park.....takuma the Jap is far worse

Arteta gone to City to round up another amazing day of transfer news.
I'm sure we can look forward to him telling Pep how easy it is to beat us with minimal effort.

Worse than Inamoto (you're welcome) or Park based on what?hartson wrote:I've always been someone that judge's a player on there merits and not the club they were signed from, but I can already tell we have just signed the new "worst signing in arsenal history" forget helder Carter hillier lydersen inimacho or Park.....takuma the Jap is far worse

Let's at least see how he performs in his customary two League Cup appearances before we start up the hyperbole machine, eh?

Anyone at Arsenal: "Arsène, I've heard a rumour that Arteta is wanted at Man City. If they want him, do you think we should get in first and offer him a decent role? He's intelligent, sensible and can offer a fresh approach towards the coaching. What do you think?"MrT wrote:Arteta gone to City to round up any amazing day of transfer news.

Wanker: "No. He'll just end up being a threat to me and I can't have that."
Anyone: "But, it'll mean our plans and tactics might be leaked to a rival team. "
Wanker: "What are tactics and plans?"
