Giroud could be a good 2nd choice striker or a part of a 4-4-2, but no way should he start as first choice.

oh absolutely, he's a 442 guy, not a 451.

thats the problem.

him and pod are both 442 and they are being played in a 451 or a 4321 or whatever.

when Alan smith played in a 451, it was away in europe against better opposition who would often try and pass through our rock solid defence and hard working midfield, and often fail.

AW's tactics are not fitting the players he bought.

walcott, rosicky and Ramsay are also not 451 players. parlour was, jack is, arteta and santi are.

Under George Graham, you've probably missed out his TWO greatest youth team products...

The first was Mr Arsenal himself, Tony Adams 8) and the other was a striker who went on to win 5 Premier league titles, the Champions league and score 187 Premier League goals (second only to Shearer)... yes, I mean Arsenal legend, Andy Cole! :barscarf:

Hmm... maybe that's why we're struggling to produce a top class striker? we've already produced one, and the law of averages suggests we won't be that lucky again for some time.

3-5-2?

To get the best out of Giroud and Walcott?

Would leave Podolski still not so effective on the left, and what about Sagna?

Not convinced.

Vermaelen - Mertesacker - Koscielny

--------------Wilshere----Arteta------

Oxlade-Chamberlain---Cazorla------Podolski

----------------Giroud---Walcott---

But how about this?

Sagna - Mertesacker - Vermaelen

--------------Wilshere----Arteta------

Oxlade-Chamberlain---Cazorla------Walcott

----------------Giroud---Podolski---

or this?

Sagna - Mertesacker - Vermaelen

--------------Wilshere----Arteta------

Walcott---Cazorla------Podolski

----------------Giroud---Huntelaar---

With Koscielny, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Coquelin, Rosicky, Ramsey, Gibbs on the bench?

I woke up today, optimistic that I would see two sacked news, eventhough I was more convinced to see just one (Celski). And what do I see?

Arsene Wenger has admitted that he may consider his future at the end of the season

can anyone remember a double substitution that changed a game. nope . neither can i.

What is your bar for talent, because Giroud isn't fit to shine Van Persie's boots.
Either are most strikers in the world to be fair, Giroud is a great talent he has shown that already but it unfair to compare him to a fully fit red hot RVP.

Its statements like that, that make me wonder what people are actually watching. "A great talent" - really? When has he shown already that he's "a great talent". Three or four reasonably good performances, the rest absolutely shit and that qualifies as aleady showing he's a great talent

Fuck me - no wonder we're so bloody hopeless. We've had 4th choice strikers like Kanu and Wiltord that piss all over this bloke. People are just convincing themselves that this bloke will go on to become a great player - he's 27, has spent most of his career scratching around at provincial clubs and finally produced one decent season for Montpellier. He's average - another downgrade on the player that was in the squad before him

People are hurting at our demise and need something to cling to. FWIW I don't think he's terrible, but you're right in that our back-up strikers of old would walk into this team and never look back.

TBH I reckon if we had the modern day equivalents of Gerd Meuller and Marco van Basten we'd still suck arse as the problem is the man in charge, not so much the personnel (within reason).

As I've said it's turned simple now. Anyone who is pro Wenger is anti Arsenal. Absolutely convinced he'd done for. Dead. Man. Walking.

This looks like the usual Wenger bullshit about being judged in May. It's win-win for him really isn't it? If he manages to jam 4th spot again he can stay and fuck things up for another year or if we don't manage it, he can fuck off and leave some other poor sod to pick up the pieces. If the board had any sense, they would boot him out now and give what little transfer budget we have to another bloke to spend in January. If there is any real truth in this, then the protests need to be continued and the heat turned right up.

Sounds like the overused 'We lacked a little bit sharpness' phrase has made way for 'We were a little bit jaded physically' as the GIC's new favorite post-match excuse this year. At least he's being flexible somewhere!
