SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

French giants Marseille will meet with Gervinho’s representatives next week as reports claim the Arsenal forward is closing in on a season-long loan move to the Stade Vélodrome.

The 26-year-old has failed to establish himself as a key first team player since his move from Lille back in 2011, with many fans venting their frustrations at the Ivorian’s inconsistency last season."

Apologies for hijacking the thread a bit but Sky seem to be suggesting that SAFC are near to getting Vito Mannone. I'm assuming the overwhelming opinion is that he's shite, would that be accurate? Also, for the irish gooners amongst you, people seem to be thinking that if Mannone does sign he'll be backup to Kieran Westwood rather than first choice, is that likely or is Mannone the better of the two? I've not seen much of Mannone like but when I have seen him he seems a bit, well, flappy and not very good

yes, yes he is.

if it wasnt for his schnozz getting in the way of the ball in a couple of games the consensus that hes shit would be unanimous, as a few still just maintain hes not as bad as shit, cos of his massive conk.

westwood is a fine keeper and was brilliant at Coventry but sunderland have slowed down his career , I really expected him to move on this summer but mannone is fairly bad and no where near good enough to be a keeper in the PL. glad to see him go and to get a fee for him is just mental

Yes but he won't make the "we were close to signing him" statement if he goes to another club and is ordinary, however if he goes to man shitty, scores 43 goals that include the winner for the cl final and pl winning goal in the last second of the season then you can bet your bottom dollar he will remind us how close we came

Or attempt to discredit him by saying " all he does is score goals" like he did with Drogba, the same Drogba that butt - fucked as year in year out and won trophy after trophy with Chelsea.

Your getting your shit Arsenal keepers confused me old mucker. :D Easily done.

Fabianski is flappy and not very good.
Mannone is not very good, and flappy.

Almunia however was very flappy and no good.

But all 3 were no doubt "world class" according the gospel that is Wenker. :banghead:

You never know, may have been basically tied up for a few days and just a case of confirmation but I don't think it's irrational to get worried about someone coming in and hijacking the deal.
this is it.

juve sign tevez, our expert negotiators see our only widely reported compeition for higuain are out of the race, so they then try to lowball madrid, this will drag on and on until someone willing to pay the the extra couple of million quid comes in for him. same old same old, read alonso, mata etc etc. this club is and will remain rotten.
You have no evidence whatsoever to go on for your conclusion. Give us a link, source, anything... any sort of information to back up this claim if you will? For all we know, we might already have this in the bag. I could go the other extreme and say the only thing remaining is for him to get through his medical. Do I have any evidence for this claim? No, but neither do you. Signing players is not like going to the supermarket and buying stuff. It takes time. £20m odd is being exchanged hands here, and we're not a club who can just throw money around.

Baseless negativity, very annoying.
Fucking hell, you're one of the most negative bastards on here all season and then after miraculously finding some faith you're getting on your high horse chastising others for negativity?
Keyword: Baseless
As I'm sure has been said somewhere on this thread in the absence of any tangible progression on a deal that looked very likely 7-10 days ago it's not unreasonable to look at the way we've conducted negotiations with clubs in the past; and it's no secret that our negotiations have often been protracted as we haggle to an unnecessary and often unrealistic degree on the fee.

Or do you need a credible source like goal.com, caughtoffside or "some bloke off Twitter" for it to be a credible suggestion?

So with Vito Mannone leaving, will we sign a new goalkeeper or promote Damian Martinez?

All we need now is Sammy to tell us Higuain's a done deal to go with Zaha and Goetze and we'll know all bets are off

He ain't joining. The season ticket money is in.....save yourself the bother. We're now a week away from hearing about how we need to hold money back as a contingency until CL qualification is assured and perhaps maybe once we've shifted some more deadwood the lad from St Etienne will join.

As for Fellaini and Rooney joining, don't make me fucking laugh

ONE ARSENE WENGER.....THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER

Nice to see non-CL Liverpool managing to sign 4 players. Haven't they heard about spending 2 months ironing out a few technicalities

1) Maybe Tevez didn't sign for us because he was trying to escape community service.

2) Sp*rs are interested in David Villa, as well as Leandro Damiao and Soldado, and it looks like Adebayor is leaving them. Adebayor to reunite with Alex Song in Barcelona, anyone? Alex Song desperately needs a mate and Neymar needs someone to teach him fair play.

3) Everton want around £18m for Baines. It'd be a shame if Baines left, I want to see him playing as a wing-back in Martinez's 3-5-2 formation.
