United have now made 2 big money signings, as have Liverpool. Chelsea, we all know have already got Fabregas. City also have Fernando, knicked our right back and are about to sign Zuculini.

Arsenal have signed...................................................FUCK ALL AGAIN.
Liverpool have signed three now - Lambert, Lallana and Emre Can.

meanwhile Wonga is enjoying his paid holiday immensely.

We have a history of allowing other team's supporters on here unless they insult us or the club, or they are wums. Derek has behaved himself so far so no personal abuse.

Some Joe Average French shite from Newcastle might be coming

The same Joe Average that keeps the irreplaceable Sagna out of the French team?
Whoopee fucking doo - the left back for France is fucking shit too. Nobody thinks Sagna is 'irreplaceable' - its just that he's still better than Jenkinson and Aurier

Well no, thats not the point at all, many on here (not sure if you are one of them) have been rimming Sagna to high heaven since he decided to leave than you comically try to slate the player who is deemed better than him at the highest level.

You couldnt make such comedy up, its almost as good as your tired..he isnt coming gag.

Woopy doo indeed.

That's irrelevant considering Sakho starts and Koscielny is on the bench. Sagna is clearly better than Douchebag.

Sagna is a decent full back IMO - certainly not worthy of the cringeworthy "we want you to stay" shite being sung to him at the end of the season. Debuchy has been part of a Newcastle defence that looks as porous as a sieve. Johnson is England's first choice right back and I wouldn't want him either - it happens doesn't it....international teams get short in a certain position. FFS - England have got Cahill and Jagielka at CB and I wouldn't want either of those two.

28 years old too.....so Sagna at 31 is past it, whilst Debuchy at 3 years younger is the answer to our prayers?

I'm not saying he's the answer to our prayers but Im just not getting this 'Sagna is a rock' nonsesne and that people are panicking over his replacement.

He's had 2 broken legs, his crossing was very hit and miss and he had his moments defensively last year, he was very much part of a defence that got raped several times so lets not put him on a pedestal because he decided to take the money and sit on Citys bench and improve his prospects which is what gets most including myself.

im not talking up Debuchy so dont mistake it for that Im just a bit baffled that Sagna is held in such high regard when he was clearly on the decline, he is Debuchy's understudy as we speak so Deschamps obviously feels one is stronger than the other and while hes probably not going to be the answer to our problems lets not pretend its a problem that cant be fixed quite easily if the manager decides to pull his finger out.

Yeah, we should have done a Tottenham.
Sign up half of Europe and then realise soon in the season that they're all shite........
Yeah because the only alternative to signing nobody is to go and waste £100m. Watertight.

Jenkinson still isn't the answer though is he? Whilst certain people (not me) might talk about Sagna like a modern day football god when I see Jenkinson play I see a hard working, quick, very committed lad but one who panics the shit out of me. His crossing is also overrated IMO.....so this RB issue needs sorting quickly. I just don't think Debuchy is an improvement on Sagna regardless of what the French manager thinks. Personally I think Cashley Hole is a better left back than the myth that is Leighton Baines and the latest £30m overrated Ingerlund star Luke Shaw.....but Hodgson doesn't think so. International football is an entirely different ball game anyway

Derek Acorah wrote:It's unfair to judge Shaw on a world cup campaign where he played, what, one game? In a terrible England side led by a clueless manager?

Shaw has been very good, superb at times, for the last few seasons. He's obviously extremely talented and will be our left back for the next 10+ years. The fee is over the top but that's the tax which gets added to English players. Ridiculous really.

I'm as happy as a pig in shit. 2 very good signings with more to come (apparently). No messing about this time - I hope all of our business is done before the end of July.

:barscarf:
This is the sort of throwaway comment that people make about players like Shaw and Barkley and gets parroted about without thought by every media outlet. He hadn't even played a senior game before he came a rotational player last season.

I watched the Southampton v Everton match earlier this year and Sky had an absolute wankfest before about Coleman, Baines and Shaw. Don't get me wrong, they're 3 good/very good PL full-backs but that day it was the other full-back on the pitch (Clyne) who created a goal with a great cross and caused havoc down his flank, outshone the others. Of course Sky glossed over this and after the game heaped undue praise on Shaw who apparently showed his phenomenal attacking prowess that he demonstrated all year in racking up 0 goals and 1 assist in 35 games.

Rant aside, I don't really disagree with the rest of what you've said. It's a big overpayment for Shaw but he does have talent, he will be at least a good full-back and it nails down the position for a decade as you say. It's a sound investment rather than gambling on landing a gem for £5-10m and falling flat with somebody like Santos, Monreal or Buttner. I wish we would take the same approach and spend the £15-18m it would take to prize Coleman away from Everton but realistically we'll probably see another French football club win the Arsene Lottery and be in the same position in 2 years time but £6-8m worse off.

£60m+ is far more than those two signings should fetch but the whole of Europe knows how desperate United are for signings and if you're looking for young players (especially English) you're gonna get fleeced. Better off getting the business done early - looking back it's hard to say any scenario in which Moyes would have made a success out of it but I think the Fellaini situation would certainly have worked out better had he signed him for £23m in early July and stuck two fingers up to anyone that didn't like it. Fabregas would have been a top signing for United.

Jenkinson is not an Arsenal player, if he wasn't a supporter he would get no slack, he may come good but I doubt it will be anytime soon.

To be fair, Baines and Shaw had good seasons, Mourhino messed it up for Cole by making a right back play in his position so you could hardly blame Hodgson for taking them at his expense, had we gone through the group no one would be talking about it, he has Mourhino to thank for that and he was pretty much a squad player for them last year, taking him would have been like taking Lampard which is a joke in itself, the only one IMO who should have gone would be Terry who had a good partnership with Cahill and played all year.
