If you hear "who won the war" comments at football matches then you are hearing banter. It's part and parcel of football culture. It is NOT anti German sentiment or hatred.
Even if it is mentioned by the older people that you seem to be fixated with  You are well wide of the mark.

I don't dislike the Germans at all. Even though the bastards bombed my grandad's fish and chip shop :D

Edit....my grandad never actually had a chip shop. I was making a joke. I thought I'd better make this clear :)
I don't completely agree olgit. Part of it is banter (and this kind of banter even my German football supporting friends indulge in before I do) but a good deal of it is anti-German. This was evident in Germany in 2006 and hasn't gone away. It is passed on through dimwitted fuckers bringing up their children to be dimwitted fuckers.

Luckily most of it is banter (Arsenal in Munich) but you should also consider that one man's banter is to another offensive. The same to your English ears sometimes sounds different to German ears. Probably cos their heads are filled with bratwurst and sauerkraut :rubchin: :D
I take your point. There will always be dickheads in this world. I just don't see them as anything else than a stupid angry minority. Clueless fucktards. I still firmly believe that football banter will generally seek to take the piss out off the opposition in any way possible. That doesn't mean that the piss takers are anti German, anti French, anti ginger or any other sort of anti. Long may it continue :D

You honestly think England fans understand what banter is , that has to be the funniest thing I've heard all year. There is a hardcore Xenophobic borderline racist contingent of England fans that like going over to places like France and Germany acting like complete twats. Unfortunately whilst giving it the large in France they got a kicking from the Russians.

If it's not derogatory songs about the French or Germans then it's the IRA. Of course it's a minority but it's not a few hundred it's more like a few thousand that whip up other England fans that don't know any better. I've seen it first hand with England when they played Turkey at SOL, must be around 10 years ago now.

If you honestly think that's banter/humour then I genuinely pity you. I would quite happy to be accused of not having a sense of humour if that is your definition ;).

It's always been a source of embarrassment for me the way England national team supporters carry themselves. Long before free movement came in , in fact prior to us being inveigled into the E.U club , I worked in Spain dealing with holiday makers from all of Europe and any bar fights always had English and Scottish at the heart of them. The national front were the perpetrators and they created mayhem wherever they could with their nationalism which is basically what Putin's Russians were doing in France attacking the English to take the crown so to speak.
However that had little or no effect on my thinking re the past referendum. I just saw an overbearing entity trying to control for it's own ends the lives and prosperity of the greater number of Europe's people. I saw the effects that Salazar and Franco had on the Portuguese and Spanish and with the youth unemployment throughout the Mediterranean countries I could see a similarity as the poor got poorer and the rich didn't notice or care . This gave rise to the fascist ism of that age some 80 years ago , that particular wolf may well have a different coat now but the effects are similar. Eventually the havenots will rise against the haves and I don't wish for a repeat of those problems for my grandchildren to face.

There's a nice post for Christmas folks.

Nutty, I certainly would not deny that there is a minority of so called England fans who are total fucking arse holes. You estimate that there are thousands of them. I would say hundreds. Which is about the same amount as the Russian twats who caused all the trouble in France.

Banter is banter. It generally involves taking the piss out of the opposition in any way possible.

Nutty do you object to what we say about the Spuds, Victims, Chavs etc or is it just 'national' banter/abuse that embarrasses you? :rubchin:

You are incredibly selective over who's fans are a disgrace. I've been to enough internationals to know that almost every national team has it's hardcore of dickhead, ultra-nationalist morons not just the English and it's always been that way for as long as i can remember.

spot on mate some people are very selective on here when it comes to the English. We know we have our fair share of idiots but then most of the European nations also have. If you are welsh, Irish or Scottish and proud of that you are a patriot but if you are English and dare show any pride in your country you are deemed racist. Utter bollocks English and proud.

The Banter is not the problem, it is the people that take themselves far too seriously that are the problem. Making jokes about the war does not make it worse or better, and does not add to the death toll, once both sides can make jokes about it, you can probably say we have moved on, the problem might be the shame of what they did to jews, and how complicit a nation can become with years of propaganda, but that don't mean we can't make jokes about winning the war, dark comedy is way alot of people deal with things.

For instance: my mother passed away. Recently I made a joke with my brothers that was akin to only fools and horses. we were arguing about something and i say: actually mom told me that on her death bed, i was not sure of the reaction but we all laughed and it reduced the tension about the argument we were having and that kind of showed a healing had happened. I think once you can make jokes (not ones that are clearly designed to cause pain/hate but fun ones) you are half way to healing / moving on from something tragic.

On the Nick Ferrari show on LBC at about 7.15am this morning he and a bloke from a racial equality organisation were debating the results of the Sky "Divided Britain" survey.
This guy actually implied that the rise in the number of disabled people being raped at knifepoint was a consequence of the vote in favour of Brexit.
When is this fucking bullshit going to be stopped?!
