He's had 2 broken legs, his crossing was very hit and miss and he had his moments defensively last year, he was very much part of a defence that got raped several times so lets not put him on a pedestal because he decided to take the money and sit on Citys bench and improve his prospects which is what gets most including myself.

im not talking up Debuchy so dont mistake it for that Im just a bit baffled that Sagna is held in such high regard when he was clearly on the decline, he is Debuchy's understudy as we speak so Deschamps obviously feels one is stronger than the other and while hes probably not going to be the answer to our problems lets not pretend its a problem that cant be fixed quite easily if the manager decides to pull his finger out.
Jenkinson still isn't the answer though is he? Whilst certain people (not me) might talk about Sagna like a modern day football god when I see Jenkinson play I see a hard working, quick, very committed lad but one who panics the shit out of me. His crossing is also overrated IMO.....so this RB issue needs sorting quickly. I just don't think Debuchy is an improvement on Sagna regardless of what the French manager thinks. Personally I think Cashley Hole is a better left back than the myth that is Leighton Baines and the latest £30m overrated Ingerlund star Luke Shaw.....but Hodgson doesn't think so. International football is an entirely different ball game anyway
I would love to see Jenkinson succeed as much as anyone but let's be honest he's only remotely in the frame because of our shit transfer policy and not his own ability/performances. I personally can't ever see him being better than a squad player and he's certainly nowhere near good enough to be starting 50-odd games next year.

Sagna was awful going forward but defensively he did his job. I would love a full-back who causes a consistent threat going forward but despite the obsession with quick full-backs the reality is most of them don't do anything useful with it (Kyle Walker being a prime example). More importantly, Sagna was part of an established defensive unit. Mertesacker was clearly comfortable between Sagna and Koscielny and performed outstandingly over the course of the season - I'm not saying nobody else could fill that void by any means but replacing Sagna with an average RB is a huge risk.

Sagna will be a huge, huge loss - I don't give a fcuk if my saying that pisses people off or if they feel that I am "rimming" the guy, cos for me he is in the top 3 right backs in europe 8) Fans can mock if they like but wait until you see the type of 2nd grade nobody that le cock buys to fill the right back spot next season, and then you will bemoan the loss of sagna :(

I assume from the lack of mentions that nobody has noticed that Viviano has gone back so we only have 1 GK.?

Am I the only person who thinks Jenkinson has the potential to make the grade? Admittedly he's not ready to be first choice yet but with a bit of work and coaching (I know) I reckon he could be decent.
Personally not bothered about sagna leaving but would prefer us to replace him with an experienced player to help bring Jenks on rather then another youngster with potential.

I agree with you... I really hope that he turns out to be good enough to play as a first choice RB for us. But I have to admit that for me this is more of a sentimental issue as his mother is a Finn and partly because of that I really hope he succeeds :barscarf:

Very true, I bet the same was said of Sagna when he signed.

Good player, served us well, replaceable.

Not saying that he is not replaceable - when sagna signed he was brought in to take eboue's place so he didnt need to be very good to be an upgrade, but sagna has set the bar higher and his replacement better be very good now or else we will have weakened another position :x Are you confident we will sign such a player ? I'm not, so in all likelihood we will see another fine example of wenker's practice of selling/releasing players and replacing them with inferior players thus extending the "building a new team" timeframe

Jenkinson is a Gooner who wears his heart on his sleeve and I would love to see him nail down the RB spot, but I do not think he is good enough to be more than a squad player. When it became a possibility that Sagna was leaving last season I though Debuchy would be a perfect replacement that was until I saw him at The Grove where he was awful... Micah Richards would be the best replacement in England, but I thought the ivory coast RB was a done deal.

I am not over troubled by Sagna leaving, apart from the obvious lack of replacement issue, he was an excellent RB and a with a good attitude, in his prime he was the best RB around... Now it is time to move on , but le boss hasn't seemed to grasp this . I hope he gets a good reception when he takes his place on the bench at The grove or when he starts in the inevitable Carling Cup tie. I don't mean that in a derogatory way but even Sagna knows he is very much back up for Zabaletta.

I don't know about him being a 'huge, huge loss', I thought he had excellent defensive skills - pace, tackle ability, timing etc and gave 100% most of the time - especially having not only suffered 2 serious injuries AND also having survived the attentions of our inept medical team...But, He couldn't cross a ball to save his f*cking life (FACT!).

Anyway - he's now earning £120k a week for warming the bench so good luck to the *word censored*. :D

Unlike many on here I think Jenko does have the ability to be our No1 RB - But Not yet!
