We play extremely well and everyone's licking wengers Arse?
The love and adulation of AKB's really is astounding, he's not accountable for losses as the players fucked up yet we win and he's a genius?
Verrily Tis So Old Chap.
But old chaps, when we play badly it's wengers fault but when we play very well it's the players ignoring wenger and doing their own thing (like having team meetings before the city game last season) and on the manure game thread you will see very similar things.
Just saying.....
Funny you should mention that as from memory - and I'll admit straight up that isn't always reliable due to my daily medicinally required marijuana intake - I recall Wenger being asked after that City win about the change of tactics and - unusually but to wenger's credit (or should that be embarrassment? ) - he didn't claim ownership of the different playing policy but instead said the players met among themselves and decided to play the way they did that match.
Similarly, after Sunday's match Theo was quoted saying something like: the players got together during the week and had a good discussion about how things were going and what they were going to do to turn it around (I'm paraphrasing).

The common argument in the Arsene Wenger debate is be careful what you wish for.
And days like these should be a reminder for the Wenger Out brigade because, 19 years into his reign, the Arsenal manager proved he can still produce victories when he really needs them.
It was a big win for Arsenal — and a timely reminder that Wenger still delivers when the pressure is on.

Wins, losses, draws.....they are on Wenger. He's the manager. Thats it.
who are you talking to?
Myself, cause no-one else listens to me fs.
Ahhhhhh. I'm listening armchair. Well, sometimes. Okay, on the rare occasion I am not totally out of my box. Alright, alright - like everyone else I'm not fecking listening - ever!!

My old skunk monk I am talking about the general posters on here and their comments, but if you believe the players go out and do "their own thing" then it is the players fault we've been so bang average isn't it OR did they do it just the once

ONE JOHN CROSS......THERE'S ONLY ONE JOHN CROSS
So we are to assume that he didn't really need to win against Monaco, Anderlecht, shammers, Zagreb etc etc

Yeah, when HE really needs them. Never mind the numerous games over the last 10 years that the fans really wanted / needed to win.
As long as Arsene gets the victory when he's under pressure, then that's the man we need in charge to take the club forward
You also have Walcott's post match comments of ''that was for the manager''. Cheers Theo, nice to have it confirmed how committed you are to the cause.
As enjoyable as Sunday was, in the cold light of day, it's probably increased the level of contempt I have for the players (Sanchez excepted) and the manager (if that is even possible).
There is just so much self-interest and too much self-preservation at the club. At every level.

John Cross is as despicable as Wenger, during the week before the United game he tweeted (quoting Fergie I think) that Arsenal fans must be careful what they wish for. I tweeted back to him saying that "be careful what you wish for" was becoming the new club motto and I , as a fan, wished for a competitive Arsenal FC.
If I have an excellent day in work and the boss calls me in and says "well done , but we need that every day" how can I argue with him. ? But Wenger can "produce when he needs"... Insult our intelligence a bit more Mr Cross please

Love it!!
What I am claiming is that specifically regarding the Man City match, the players - fed up of continually getting embarrassed in the 'big matches' - decided to opt for a different tactic on that particular day.
It appears that was also the case for the Man United game if we are to believe what Theo has been saying.
Perhaps the players SHOULD ignore Wenger's instructions more often if the end result is those 2 performances rather than the usual capitulations that come following his orders?

Glad you like your new moniker
tbf I don't listen to a word the players say, they seem to big themselves up when they get a good result against a top side (which is not very often) and want all the credit but shy away when we lose to some dross
Either way the manager and the players don't do it enough

I wonder if the conversation went along the lines of " If we don't get the finger out here they might get a real manager in let's try extra hard here and keep the golden goose in position ". There are so many of them coasting along without any real ambition except to keep feeding at the trough.

haha thats almost word for word what went through my mind
I thought of them saying something like ''better get our finger out this week lads ...but don't worry ...we only need to do it once to get most people back onside''.
New record for Wenger. Been in charge at Arsenal for longer than any other PL managers have been at their clubs. That's all the current managers COMBINED. Another official record we do not give a flying f*@* about.
