THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Similarly, after Sunday's match Theo was quoted saying something like: the players got together during the week and had a good discussion about how things were going and what they were going to do to turn it around (I'm paraphrasing).

Just saying........
Actually found confirmation of the second part of my previous post relating to the above: http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/795765343?-11203:5805:0
I wonder if the conversation went along the lines of " If we don't get the finger out here they might get a real manager in let's try extra hard here and keep the golden goose in position ". There are so many of them coasting along without any real ambition except to keep feeding at the trough.
exactly my thoughts as well.

Not sure about this. I think that there are newer players in the squad now who have more of a winning mentality than some of the complacent crew of the past. I see players like Coquelin, Gabriel, and Sanchez and see players who for whatever reason are fighters and have a determination that others don't. Dare I say that Walcott also knows that this is his chance and is taking it much like le Coq from last year?

It's too early to tell at the moment, but I think that if we can get a result against Bayern, it would really instill some belief in our overall play this year. However, I am not going to hold my breath just yet....

If Wenger bollocked the players then left them to work it out for themselves isn't that an effective management style? There's only so much nurturing he can do. Players taking accountability in winning matches, wins trophies. Look at Sunderland none of their players look like they give a toss. 4 managers in 3 seasons with virtually same squad of players who know that no matter how shit they perform the manager will get the sack regardless. Players at Arsenal know that Wenger won't get sacked regardless results so they have to step up and perform or get sold to Barcelona and sit on their bench for a season.

Great managers TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

This is alien to Wonga because in his mind, he is not the problem. This in fact IS the problem! If the players 'sorted it out' as reported, then it's just another example of Wonga not being able to or not believing he needs to. Either way it's not good for Arsenal FC.............but business as usual for Arsene FC.

Anyone heard Piers Mogan on Talkshite yesterday afternoon? He was on for ages, did a pretty good job, thought his cred was improving till he classed Wally as MOM V manure

Some complete loon AKB phoned in and really it was an embarrasment listening to the guy. I started to wonder if this AKB stuff is all related to the closure of psychiatric hospitals

He called them (AKBs) Goonies- a sect similar to The Moonies.

Surprised however that the corporatisation of it all wasnt mentioned much- maybe he has had too many Prawn cocktails

Piers has been on the Wenger out campaign for a long time now. Don't like the guy much, but his views on Wenger are spot on.

He's an ostentatious *word censored* of the highest order imaginable.

An attention seeker and utterly disingenuous scummy human being.

You can bet your last quid he'll be a chief Wenger cock sucker, should we somehow overhaul City and lead the league for a few weeks.

Fuck him!

BG- I completely agree with a lot of what you say and Im not supporting the man but the message from him has been pretty much the same for a long time now- A lot of people who arent likable characters are pretty spot on with their message (Some are of course both dislaikable and totally wrong as well  )

You won't have to jog your memory too far back to remember the last time his message made a 180.

Just flashback to the season of 13/14 when we capitalised on favorable fixtures and were leading to pack. The *word censored* changed his tune completely and stuck his tongue way up Wenger's recess. He then made another 180 before the season ended, reverting to type, when it became apparent that we weren't going to sustain the title chase much more win it.

He's a shameless attention seeker and should fuck off.

Piers Morgan is probably the most damaging individual to the WOB campaign.

He is an attention-seeking prick and after a couple of decent results he will invariably U-turn. Added to that he is a prize twat and unfortunately to a lot of people he represents the views of the anti-Wenger campaign.

I couldn't care less what Piers has to say. The man is an absolute prick. As for Wenger, the man has won two trophies in the last two years and currently has us in the title race. Not the right time to be talking about a new manager if you ask me.

Since we signed Ozil there has been a noticeable change, for me, in terms of buying elite players/attracting elite players. It seems to me that only in the last couple of seasons has paying off the stadium not been holding us back and that has led to trophies. At this point, I'm willing to give Wenger this season and the next to build something again. I think we're well into the process already.
