I think they knew that in citing the "lack of ambition" argument that the pressure would be on the club to come up with a mega offer, or they would risk the whole Green & Gold saga protesting at the ownership for the rest of the season

Has anyone considered the fact he signed a contract so Utd can get a greater transfer value for him in the summer.

How would that benefit Rooney?

By signing a new contract, he's given up his strong bargaining position and put ManUre firmly in charge of his future, which would surely be foolish if he wants out.

Also, the new contract means ManUre can ask for much more money than this time yesterday - and from Rooney's point of view, that's not a good thing if you're hoping Citeh, Chelsea, Barca or Real Madrid are trying to find the necessary funds to buy you!

I did initially doubt that he would leave but so much has been said by both sides that I couldnt see any way in which he could stay and now this happens ?? I understand why it might be just a way to protect manure when/if he goes next summer but like g88ner says how does diluting the pool of possible clubs that could buy him actually help his agenda ? With the transfer fee and wages that were already mooted there was only 4 or 5 clubs at max that could afford him but now you can whittle that down to maybe 2 clubs.....just doesnt make any sense to me

1) Wont matter if he got the contract he wants.

2) He may have a release clause which would still make him attainable to certain clubs.

In the end its all pure speculation, time will tell.

Obvious what happened. He signs the deal, the filth get a decent payday when he fucks off in January and he doesn't spend the next 3 months with mongs camped outside his house issuing death threats.

Anyone that thinks the chavs and/or citeh won't come in with a HUGE offer in January is on the fucking drugs. And not the good ones either.

You haven't considered the fact that rooney is a giant man-baby.

It is entirely possible that he has brokered a verbal agreement with the club that allows him to leave for a price in the summer. It is always unlikely that a player like Rooney will be allowed to leave in a january transfer window.

In the meantime, he can play his football hassle-free for the rest of the seasona and enjoy a nice juicy pay rise.

I couldn't care less about shreks future! However between ferguscum, shrek and even Evra who went in with his usual little comment, Manure cleaning their dirty laundry in public was quite amusing...
In the end, I think Shrek made the biggest fool of himself in the lot in this story.
