The guy seems to take no enjoyment from watching football. Always trying to make sly digs or snide remarks at other teams, seemingly because they're not the Liverpool side of the mid 80s. Unfunny *word censored*.

Always said it about the dutch........they are a great team when everyone is writing them off but they shit themselves on the big day and when the pressure is on
Rvp, when playing for holland, is your stereotypical dutch footballer and cannot deliver the same form that they show for their clubs :(

I know he scored the goal but fcuk me that gomez is utter utter shit - people will way lyrical about his headed goal but the reality is that there was so many crosses going into the box and he was always a step off the pace and it was the only header the c**t won all day  Klose should start ahead of him imo

I know Portugal vs Germany seemed all passing and very little in the way of actual creativity (where have we seen that before), but I really enjoyed the game. I thought Germany played exactly how I would like to see Arsenal play. Quick, counter attacking football (albeit with an end product)...lovely

Still can't see this german side beating spain. The germans are set up right for Spain, and I don't believe they'll adopt tactics like the swiss did to beat them. I think Germans are a great side to watch, but they did not create an awful lot, and the endless crosses only paid off once.

Portugal have a lot more talent then they thought. MOTD boys were right, this negative style they have adopted since 2004 has not paid off, its only failed. When they attacked the germans they created a lot of chances. I wonder how good this olvieria kid is, from what I saw very promising.

because he's actually a great footballer with fantastic awareness and positioning, he's not a dribbler like messi, he's a tall target man but he has the ability to be more.

The germans did ok, when the push comes to shove you know they'll deliver, the dutch on the other hand, have a notorious case of stage fright, and Marwijk's strategy didn't help. When it was clear that the young full back was doing just fine, Strootman or van der Vaart had to be introduced to make the team flow better.

I would like to see Müller as striker for germany, with Reus on the right wing just to see what happens

A tall target man wins more headers than this fcuking clown does

Maybe gomez would be better in a 4-4-2 system with someone alongside him but he is not mobile enough and is nowhere near good enough to link the play up as a lone striker and as a result is exposed as a very average footballer. He "fantastic positioning" to which you refer is a crock of shit - how many good crosses went in there tonight and he was nowhere to be seen ? He doesnt seem to be able to read the game or know what runs to make - in the 2nd half tonight muller gets away from his marker on the right side and the best option open to him was to fizz the ball in low across the 6yd line and hope that gomez would be there but he never even read the ball and was a couple of yards away when the keeper actually fumbled the cross and had time to recover. Not long after that a cross came in from the other wing which he threw himself at but cos his starting position was off, he couldnt get that vital touch that was needed.
Average footballer imo

Gomez is a great goalscorer but a shit footballer. You can't argue against his club record. He's there to put the ball in the back of the net and he did his job tonight.

Feel bad for RVP having to play with that balding, diving, selfish :censored: Robben. All he ever does is cut inside and kick it not row Z. Theo would have done better than him today. I'm sure robin prefers playing with him, at least he'll get into space to the endline 1 out of 10 times and send in a decent ball. They need Kuyt on the right working hard for them. Put that twat robben on the left where he can be somewhat decent.

Ray Parlour believes Arsene Wenger played Andrey Arshavin in the wrong position – and admits his Arsenal career is far from secure.

The midfield playmaker was in superb form on Friday night as Russia got their Euro 2012 campaign off a great start with a 4-1 win over the Czech Republic in Group A.
Arshavin, 31, has suffered a largely torrid time at the Emirates following his £16million move from Zenit St Petersburg in 2009, and he spent the last six months on loan at his former side after failing to secure a spot in Arsene Wenger’s first team.
Arsene Wenger’s always played him on the left hand side and he’s more of a central player
— Ray Parlour
But former Gunners favourite Parlour claims the Russian might not be completely to blame for his mixed fortunes in the Premier League.
“You could say that he was played in the wrong position at Arsenal,” Parlour told the Weekend Sports Breakfast. “Arsene Wenger’s always played him on the left hand side and he’s more of a central player.
“I’m sure Arsene will be watching and wondering why he couldn’t do that for Arsenal. He never played like that which is frustrating for the fans, Arsene Wenger and the players.”
Arshavin looked set to leave Arsenal this summer following his successful loan return to his homeland and Parlour admits his future is far from clear.
“Let’s see what happens with him,” he said. “I’m not sure whether he’ll go back to Arsenal or they’ll try and sell him.”

I think there's a lot in what the ole RP says......

Not only has Wenker lost the plot but he doesn't seem to understand that playing a player in their natural (and comfortable) position will improve their play, contribution etc by a great deal...
