Jingle Bells,Jingle Bells, jingle all the way,
Oh what funitis to see the Arsenal win away hey :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

We were so sluggish thought some of were still in bed, jack gets booked for a proper tackle and McCarthy's a bit decent, can't see Wigan keeping him come next summer.

3pts the garden's still very un-f***ing rosey but at least it's another awkward one out of the way.

Happy Crimbo to you all.

COYG next year can't be as bad as this one  :? :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Win's a win, complete dearth of quality on the pitch but to be fair we stepped it up at the start of the second half, very rarely do we increase the tempo when we need to. Away wins can't be sniffed at. Substitutions were bizarre again though, we're nowhere near good enough to shut up shop at 1-0 up. Bringing Ramsey on is suicidal at the best of times but today he just sat on Sagna's toes and offered no outlet whatsoever.

I feel sorry for Maloney, came within 5 minutes of breaking Darren Fletcher's phenomenal records of fouls in a game without getting booked.

Blimey, we managed to overcome Wigan !!

Poor Jack was trying to cover the entire centre midfield on his own in the second half as we sat further and further back inviting the pressure, we were lucky not to concede. :o

Goes to show how desperate Wenker is to take off 3 attacking players to be replaced with 3 defensive players. :x

Wigan ended the game the stronger, we were hanging on, how come that they had spent 90mins pressing us, closing down early and working hard while we strolled about a bit, yet they still had the energy / committment to keep going to the end ? :rubchin:

Oh and thanks Quartz for the nutjob stream (in another thread) as I sat at home and saved a few quid rarther than watching down the pub. 8)

Overall I believe that you could see we were a little bit jaded physically in the second half because we played Monday night and gave absolutely everything. One or two are on the edge physically

Cant be sure but I think I am more embarrassed by this Arsenal team that I was by last seasons team

A win is a win but hanging on with 9 players parked along our 18 yard line is shocking against a team 3rd bottom of the league  The difference between bottom and 3rd bottom must be immense given the contrast in this weeks two games. I defended ox at half time cos I thought that he was trying things but making wrong decisions and that def improved in the 2nd half but overall I thought that wilshire was our standout player by a distance 8)

From an irishmans point of view it is obvious we have fcuk all good players anymore but McCarthy is one of the exceptions for me and I thought he looked good again today. For me he plays a similar game to arteta and snuffed cazorla out of the game totally

The Ox has his best performance of the season and is hooked for Ramsey  Thats why Wenger gets paid £7m a year

Carzola and Podolski already having a christmas break.Walcott back to his inconsistent worse

So we have beaten the worst team and 3rd worse team in the prem in a week glory days indeed

Arteta a proper true professional, hardly ever has a bad game, runs for ever all over the midfield, links up well with others. Shame this bloke wasn't with us 4 or 5 years ago.

Deffo one of Arsenal bet buys in recent seasons, would be a big miss if got injured

Important result and I'm delighted by it, but (there's always a but, sorry  ) I can't help thinking we won today DESPITE Wenger's tactical substitutions. :?

Taking Chamberlain off for Ramsey basically removed our biggest threat and gave their left side far less to worry about. Then, soon after that we replaced Podolski for Coquelin, which is fine in isolation but coupled with Ramsey for Ox, it killed our attacking threat altogether, and removed any pace and width as well.

For me, it totally passed the initiative to Wigan and penned us in without any natural way to hit them on the break :?

Just thought it was a bit baffling from Wenger, that's all.

Anyway, we won. I'm happy 8)

Chamberlain was tiring seeing how he was pretty much doing all the attacking for us in the second half. There was quite a few times when Sagna had two men over on the far side to deal with as Ox hadn't tracked back. MOTM for me but needed to be taken off for fresh legs.

What i would have also liked to see was Walcott taken off and replaced with either Gervinho or Arshavin so we still maintained that attacking threat with a player who had just come on. The initiative was always going to be on Wigan with 5 minutes left so it was no surprise that they were throwing men forward.
