ASTON VILLA (H)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The 3 points were the main thing today- still concerned over the scum game next week as certain players confidence looks shot . There's a real lack of firepower up front (I'm sorry but Giroud is so hit and miss with not a lot in between) and our defence is still all over the place.

Cazorla has shown that he would be a quality player if he was used properly in a system that plays to his strengths.

Re that twitter pic, not suprised about Jenkinson with him being born and bred a gooner but bit disappointed with the Ox. I know he's probably f'ed off with what's happening to him in the team and his form but even still at least look likeyou give a f**k.

As far as the game is concerned, watched in the 12 pins where we greeted with f'ing Stanley sitting in the directors' box with his nice cosy blanket eyeing up which players will make this summer's dividend payout.

He can dream of the cash from Jack and Santi, possibly TV5, Jenkinson and Monreal did ok even if Nacho did get caught up field a few too many times for my liking.

The rest wouldn't fetch too much from the transfer market even if the sheikhs at Shitty will buy any old has been or lazy sh**e off us.

I've defended Giroud a few times on here but today he was useless in front of goal. His hold up play is good and his touch to get players involved in attacks is good as well but his finishing is average to poor somedays. He does work harder than greedy used to but he needs some serious shooting practice as he panics in front of goal and waste's many good opportunities.

Chesney needs a rest but there's no decent back up there to let him have one. There goal as usual a catalogue of defensive cock ups finished off with Ches diving over the ball

Villa are dogsh*t and we made them look half decent...what a joke. Thankfully the only to seriously good players we have left saved our arse. At least Stanley would have been pleased with that as he goes off wondering what early Xmas present Santi will get him this summer

Fawlty Manuel, Flappy and now Calamity Scez. Some conveyor belt of dross keepers there. Of course Clueless hasn't a back up worthy of the name so we'll plod on with sub standard shite from the gobby Pole

Like i said, the views ive seen in the pubs and with fellow fans in the stands is that the article was at best provocative and at worst an absolte shambles that made the fanzine look unintelligent, misinformed and a voice for pure idiocy...which we all know isnt the case.

He is the Ed, he can write what he wants at the end of the day and as ive said, overall i think he does a great job, but in my opinion that article was a big mistake - and the issues it has caused on twitter, and on here, prove that it wast just a normal article, it was in the opinion of me and many other fans - a big mistake. Everybody is entitled to their views, but as a fanzine there needs to be an ability to stand back and take heed of the wider ramifications of what is published.
As I said, I think you are well wide of the mark. On all counts. And it doesn't take much to create a feeding frenzy (well, a snack perhaps  ) on twitter.

I'll leave it there, because I think you (and perhaps others) have taken. or chosen to take, the article in the wrong way so it's pointless me carrying on with this.

And I was buying fanzines 25 years ago, so I know what they stand for.
Why would i CHOOSE to take it the wrong way? What has buying fanzines for 25 years got to do with it?

Like it or not, the article has proved to be a contentious issue, which i think proves there is validity of debate - you say im wide of the mark...why? Can you not see why some might bring this article up if things get violent again? I was disgusted what I saw at Brighton, kids everywhere, and i really hope I dont see it again - a popular fanzine should be speaking out against it. I did not bring Villa into it - the author did.

We are clearly at diff ends of the spectrum here, no point dragging it out further, all i know is, the Gooner has lost a lot of respect from those ive spoken too (both for and against Wenger) since its publication and a clarification would go a long way, i think, in mitigating any further idiotic behaviour in the future.

Anyway, game time now and im sure we both want the right result, come on you reds :barscarf:
You might CHOOSE to take it the wrong way because of the end of spectrum from which you come. It's more a sub conscious choice. It's your general position.

Fanzines....you brought this up and what they should do. I was highlighting that I was around when when fanzines first came around and they had no editorial duty...just a duty to present the fans (in reality their own) point of view.

Villa - You argued that it was distasteful - therefore I was responding to your remarks. I'm not sure what the issue is, I know you didn't initially raise this so :?

Look, the point is that people are responsible for their own actions and anyone who uses the article as something to hang round the neck of the ed should something happen, need to take a look at themselves first.

No one is saying Mannone is good augie.Szczesny should be back up to a quality keeper.
100% agreed. He is slipping as a keeper through no competition and no one better than him to learn from.

Thought Giroud did ok, lot's of effort, some nice one-two's, won a lot in the air (but of course no one beside him to benefit because Wenger doesn't do 4-4-2!! :banghead: ), unlucky not to score. But ultimately, he is not the type of striker to play up front alone. He's not good enough for that role. He can win the ball in the air and lay it off nicely, but we should have Podolski in there with him to get any real benefit out of Giroud.

Thought Jenko was good, and still reckon if he got a good run of games he'd be great for us. Also, he is the ONLY player at the club that can actually whip in a decent cross exactly where you'd want it 9 times out of 10.

Cazorla took both goals really well and love the fact he isn't afraid to shoot - he's almost the Anti-Hleb!

We made an easy win against shit look hard. But a win is a win. Everton losing is a massive bonus. If only the Murderers can do us a favour against the Vermin tonight.

I think that Giroud had six chances of scoring and two opportunities to square the ball into the box for a clear shot at goal. Thought he was pants myself.

Jenko was good. We had 12 corners, perhaps he should be taking them.
We had 24 shots at goal.
