A good 3 points. 1-0 to The Arsenal, good at the back. Anything else is a bonus.

Make sure to keep me a good spot at the open top bus parade for the "calendar year trophy"............mcdowell42 wrote:Ive always said it some people are only happy when they are unhappy.
Oh yea.

I think Ive just woken up and been in a deep deep sleep and the last 8 years never happened.
You know we didnt lose 8-2 at Man u, or throw away a 4 goal lead at the barcodes. We never sold all our best players to our rivals and gave extended contracts to the shit ones. We didnt sacrifice cups to reach 4th place in the prem or progress in the cl.
Nope. None of that shit has been happening year after fuckin year. Phew. Thank fuck.
Now Im happy.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Certain people conveniently forget the past 8 years of abject failure and then have digs at some on here for not getting overly carried away and being too miserable.armchair supporter wrote:Make sure to keep me a good spot at the open top bus parade for the "calendar year trophy"............mcdowell42 wrote:Ive always said it some people are only happy when they are unhappy.

We're top, I'm sure we're all happy but nothing will change until the team lift a big shiny thing that signifies being the best in a competition, forgot what they're called now...

Re: NEWCASTLE GAME THREAD
The lack of trophies doesn't bother me as much as it seems to bother the press. It's the fact that we haven't genuinely competed for 8 years. If we are in contention for the league going into the last 3-4 games of the season then I'll be a happy gooner.
Nobody has the right to the league/CL/FA and the first two are very hard to win. I don't care about the league cup, it didn't do it for Dalglish's employers and it wouldn't do it for me if at the expense of top 4. If we finish this season as we have finished the past 2 seasons then we have a chance.

Does anybody know how to change a broken record

Re: NEWCASTLE GAME THREAD
Now then, some know more about "change" than others......mcdowell42 wrote:Does anybody know how to change a broken record
From this.......
To this in two weeks.........mcdowell42 wrote:Spineless is the key word, but what do u expect with wenger in charge, his 4th place is as good as a trophy sums us up,all happy this week because we qualified for the next round of a competition tht we will never win ,all about qualifying cos of the money earned, loser mentality from the top down to the bottom which as extended down to some of the posters on here.
Change is needed from top to bottom but never going to happen cos the money is rolling in

Flip flop......mcdowell42 wrote:Ive always said it some people are only happy when they are unhappy.

Precisely, if we were genuine contenders just missing out by a point or two, you say fair enough but in recent seasons we have (deliberately ?) offered no threat to the lifting of a trophy, while pretending that the club has ambitions to challenge - why stock pile cash ? That doesn't gain you any points.Cockerill's chin wrote:The lack of trophies doesn't bother me as much as it seems to bother the press. It's the fact that we haven't genuinely competed for 8 years. Would have been nice to have strengthened bit by bit every season. Instead we wait until the fans and media are waking up to Wengers folly then go out and splash big money on a position that didnt need strengthening.StuartL wrote:Precisely, if we were genuine contenders just missing out by a point or two, you say fair enough but in recent seasons we have (deliberately ?) offered no threat to the lifting of a trophy, while pretending that the club has ambitions to challenge - why stock pile cash ? But you cant post stuff like that without someone chastising you and telling you " we won cant you just be happy".

Re: NEWCASTLE GAME THREAD
Shock horror football fan changes his mind depending on wht the result is,maybe i should be boring and post the same repetive shit day after day on every thread like some on here (transfer stuff from twitter doesnt count ).Im hoping wenger doesnt sign a new contract he just simply has to go the majority of us know tht we dont just feel we have to mention it on every thread. We played shit the subs were strange ,we were under pressure the last 15 mins but still managed to keep a clean sheet win the game get the 3 pts and get the fuck out of toon
while returning to top of the league. Are things perfect no there not,we a need a world class striker which i cant see happening in the transfer window(3 days to go
)
I put it to you after losing the 1st game to villa if i said we would be top of the table at the start of the new year you would be calling the men in white coats for me.
In short all im saying is lighten up cos we all know we are going to get days in the near future when we really will have something to moan about.I had tht with my ex wife the constant looking for things to moan about when life wasnt all that bad.
Happy new year

Re: NEWCASTLE GAME THREAD
Dont expect to criticise posters for being..
"all happy this week because we qualified for the next round of a competition tht we will never win ,""
Then two weeks later criticise posters because...
"some people are only happy when they are unhappy"
Without some raised eyebrows.
You can change your mind and flip flop as many times as you lke mcd. I just dont appreciate being reprimanded for keeping true to my anti-wenger views that Ive only held for over 5 years. Not two weeks.

Re: NEWCASTLE GAME THREAD
How about living in the present rather than the past? Seems like you boys would have nothing to say unless it was justifying why you are all so bloody miserable. I don't think many have forgotten the last 8 seasons but most have managed to put it to one side and dared to dream. You are wasting a lot of energy predicting how our season will implode, whereas most would prefer to see if (when?) it actually happens before moaning. Let's hope the team don't have your boundless level of positivity.
