Guy who works with my wife has placed around €2000 over three different bets on Timo Werner of Germany finishing top scorer in the World Cup..
I'd back that.

Top class striker. The German Jamie Vardy.

Pick one or the other cos he cant be both

Vardy is class. His scoring record in the PL speaks for itself.

Was watching the Belgium vs Egypt friendly the other day and the way the Belgium midfield, led by De Bruyne et al embarrassed Elneny was painful to watch.

Now that I'm living in England and it's major tournament time I'm slightly surprised that I haven't been spending all day every day being told that England's name is on the trophy.

Although now it's the week of the tournament maybe that will change.

Big kudo's to david beckham who, in the week that the world cup starts, has sacrificed his marraige by having an affair (allegedly  ) to deflect the attention away from how bad this england team really is   Of course harry kane is already claiming that the baby that beckham's mistress is having, is of course his :coffeespit: :coffeespit: :coffeespit:

Now that you're living in England mate, you'll be seeing first hand what I've been telling all the Irish, Welsh and Scottish fans out there this past decade. Not even the media live in hope that we're going to win one of these major tournaments - its a completely outdated notion. The last time anyone really believed it was with the so called 'golden generation' in 2006 and with some justification because there were half a dozen top class players in that tournament, and in the previous 2 majors they'd had unlucky QF exits.

We didn't even qualify for the 2008 Euros and nobody believed in Capello's England....in fact he got widely blasted in most quarters. Nobody every believed in Hodgson's England either

The most optimistic voices you'll hear this year are along the lines of "easy(ish group, could get lucky and make the QFs". Even the main papers who usually build up the hopes of the nation have resorted to things like "at least we're going into this world cup without any high profile dramas".

If you find a single English journo who actually predicts we'll win it, you'll probably tread in rocking horse shit the same day

I agree that there is a very healthy dose of reality among the English media these days however trust me you will never dispel the belief among the little countries of the UK that 'the English' believe that they will win every competition they enter. If you point out to them that the average bloke in England doesn't believe they will win then the fall back position is well the media are hyping it up that you are going to win. Bear in mind that the little counties get their own regional version of the Sun or their own national papers which are only too happy to wind things up presenting an 'England expects' campaign in the knowledge it will sell papers so their readership can bemoan the English - it's a national pastime up north. Never let the truth get in the way of slagging the English - don't forget the cu.nts up in Scotland sell 'ABE' t-shirts by the cart load and happily wore Argentina shirts for the world cup games 98 & 02.

:D :D

You're fucking right I do and with good reason - first hand experience :D but then the Jock in 'Jock Gooner' is only a reference to where I lived for a while before returning to sunny England a couple of years back. I had a quick look at trying to change the name but couldn't see how to do it :? and 'Herts Gooner' is already taken so I'd actually have to apply some thought to the matter

Spain sack their manager 24 hours before the competition starts. Who are they gonna get at this late stage?

Send in the clowns a.k.a. Wenger :barscarf:
