MATCH THREAD V MILANO

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

A week Friday as we have to wait for Liverpool to play Inter next week!

They should get through Liverpool as that San Siro is a piss easy place to win at!

TS,That must be one of the longest threads i've ever read, I was amazed at the amount of fans calling for Ancellotis head, it reminde me of something similar on here regarding AW.
When you compare their pre and post match posts with ours they are totally opposite, They were optimistic before and now they are so shocked at losing,we on the other hand were Shitting Bricks before and now the whole World is ours.

This one pre game jumped off the page:

"Ok, as a Gunner what do you expect of Arsenal in the Siro uh? You expect they will control Milan? Possible. ''optimistic is no crime'' like my fellow Rossoneri once said. But do you expect Arsenal to control Milan while we are 100% fit? I don't think so."

We obviously thought otherwise :D

The thread was a great read. I particularly enjoyed the arrogance of Milan's North American contingent. And the way the confidence of Milan's fans ebbed away as the game got closer and closer, and then completely disappeared during the game.

Just got back a few hrs ago from Heathrow courtesy of a massive delay because of a fire at the terminal. What can I say last night was one of the greatest moments of my life. I was completely overwhealmed with emotion. One of the greatest games of pure football i have ever seen. Life is made for those moments. I never thought anything would beat the feeling in the Bernabau 2 years ago but my god it was finally topped in the San Siro last night. Thank you too all the fans around me who never stopped singing and believing. You guys made it so special. Many thanks for the Manuel Almunia chants as well lol. Lets hope for a cracking draw in the 1/4 finals.

Interesting to hear someone say that Tuesday's game topped the win at Real (I wasn't there so don't know if I'd feel the same way). But I'd been talking about this subject with a Barnsley supporting mate and we'd agreed that winning a competition (from a fans viewpoint) isn't everything and that their win at Anfield was probably more exciting to him than, say, a Cup Final win was for me.

I know the players will say "its just a step on the road" etc, but for me winning at the San Siro surpassed being in Cardiff for the FAC Final win v Southampton (which, I'm ashamed to say, was actually a little boring!) and being in Copenhagen for the Cup Winners Cup Final win v Parma.

As someone who was lucky enough to be at all the games you listed I would have to say my chart rundown goes like this pop pickers.

#4 v Saints in FA Cup crap game but big game for me (Southampton)
#3 R Madrid great game and good day out.
In at #2 our highest entry AC Milan great game and great day out
Still at #1 after all these years Cup winners cup final in Copenhagen my 1st European away game and against the odds we bring back the cup.

I wasn't at Anfield so nothing can surpass 1-0 at the lane in '71. :D :D

2. 3-0 v Anderlecht in 1970 :D
3. 2-0 v Chelsea in Cardiff in 2002 was pretty special :D

plus lots of cameos from the Wenger era :) :)
