Think he is an upgrade on Giroud, definitely more mobile which is what we need, but yes crazy prices at the moment, still Chelsea, City and Utd will keep paying out no problemOneBardGooner wrote:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... idibe.html

Shouldn't that be "but are reluctant to pay anything"

Re: Is it time for a Summer Transfer Window Thread Yet?
Just what are we doing ! We need a world class striker and we have so much money doing nothing at all.
Man Utd have spent a fortune in a desperate bid to get back on top. They need to be successful to continue making a fortune in revenue.
If Wenger thinks we can keep the fans and players happy by just signing one guy then he is madder and a mad person from Madchester.
What on earth is going on

Also need a CB as a priority, but strangely not getting linked with anyone.....with Metersecker at 32 and slow as fuck or Gabriel the accident waiting to happen....we are in for another desperate season

Yes I totally agree. I wanted Gabriel to be top class but he looks clumsy and far from the level we need. We should sign Higuain even if he costs 70 Million. Really so what we spent nothing last season so 70 Million may sound a lot but he would bring so many goals to the team. Wenger is putting himself and the team under so much pressure by not making that signing.Redarmy wrote:supergeorgegraham wrote:Just what are we doing ! Another amusing story in today's rags is that AFC have turned down several approaches from clubs for giroud - Havent Leicester and Watford got enough strikers already ?

yeah likely story

Re: Is it time for a Summer Transfer Window Thread Yet?
Gotta agree here with this and also Le Groves take on it. Sounds like PR because we aren't signing anyone. I have to say that I never expected us to sign anyone because Wenger isn't prepared to pay the going rate or even over the odds. So the only thing that I can hope for is that Wenger will see France winning the Euros as an idea to go 4-4-2 with Payet being the Ozil player with a free role. It really would be the only way that I can see Giroud being accepted as a main striker.augie wrote:Another amusing story in today's rags is that AFC have turned down several approaches from clubs for giroud - Havent Leicester and Watford got enough strikers already ?![]()

I like the one from the Juve Chief saying that they offered £34 million and we turned it down after quoting the price. What a load of face-saving bollocks. He is worth much much more than that.
They think that he is worth nearly 1/3 of Pogba. What a crock of shite...

Great work from the club's PR dept there. Plant a story about Giroud being wanted by other clubs and it makes him appear much better than he actually is. Then, when we sign nobody of any note, Wanker can sit there and say how lucky we are to have Giroud and how the best deal of the summer was keeping hold of him. I'm so fucking bored of this club.augie wrote:Another amusing story in today's rags is that AFC have turned down several approaches from clubs for giroud - Havent Leicester and Watford got enough strikers already ?![]()

Just remember Arsenal FC are now a business first and a football club second - They will use all the sneaky business/profit ploys they can - Thinking we won't notice.

Yes looks like they have pulled out of Lacarette transfer because of the fee, strange this Giroud story surfaced today???
Any enquiries the agents general let it be known not much happens without us hearing about it
The story came from the Daily Mirror but no one claiming responsibility, must have been leaked from Arsenal PLC
This is a disturbing development and hope its the work of a rogue PR guys probably straight out of University
At best its misinformation at worst lies to manipulate the media and therefore the fan base
Not sure what Herbert Chapman or even Bertie Mee would have made of this
