THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We haven't had a single side who has been anywhere near good enough defensively to win titles for a decade and still Wenger contents himself with playing a fucking oaf like Mertesacker.

Whilst our striker situation is a fucking joke we will also not win anything until we learn the art and value of defending as a team.

If I was told that after the first match in December we would be 2nd, ahead of Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool and comfortably above Chelsea ( at time of writing) I would have bitten your hand off at the start of the season.

So why am I so lacking in cheer ?

Cos I possess no faith that this squad, which is severely lacking in 2 or 3 key are's has the ability, strength, and application to see this through.

Thanks to Wenker I have become comfortably numb :? :(

Because you're a miserable bastard

Imagine back in March when Leicester were bottom if you were told we'd be 2pts behind them leading up to Christmas :o - bet you wouldn't have bitten their hand off then! (hmm... actually some on here would :rubchin: )

Well that's one less xmas card I have to write !

But according to Wenker, we just need Leicester to slip up and its all ours (he obviously hasn't seen the dvd of last year or the year before or the year before, etc etc.)
Leicester, the all powerful are now titles rivals

Going back to another late season collapse: In the last seven games of the 2009-10 season, we dropped 13 points. We finished 11 points off the champions that season.

Not as bad as the collapse in 2010-11 though, when we dropped 21 points in the last 11 games, finishing 12 points behind the champions.

Then there was the other bottled title in 2013-14 where in 11 games we dropped 4 points to draws (not including the Manc clubs) and 9 points to defeats (not including Chelsea), finishing 7 points off the champions.

So that gives us another Virtual Trophy! We're three time winners of the Bottled League Trophy :barscarf:

This season we've dropped 12 points already (not including the Chelsea game, naturally). We should be out and clear at the top despite our lack of squad depth and our perennial injury crisis and shite Novembers. The 2015 Calendar Year Trophy could be in doubt as well.

Still, Wenger knows.
