Id say £12m for Arshavin, and £10m each for TV and LK is pretty decent spending - not in Citys league, but when the player is good enough he is bought.

Not to mention £8m for Nasri, £5m for Ramsey in recent seasons and looking like £5m for the new defender.

I see that lyon have agreed a fee with bordeaux for gourcuff - I know we have higher priorities than that position but I do believe that he would have been a real player for us and probably would have been my first choice to replace cesc if he had of gone (yes even ahead of ozil )

im not sure we will replace cesc when he leaves, i think wilshere ramsey and nasri will be the replacement effectively

Its not over yet. They have till Sep 1st. I still have a feeling that he is going and i dont think Barca will be beat without a fight. I think if they come back with a 40mil+ offer or a player exchange deal - who knows..?

They can't, they won't and Arsenal would not negotitate anyway - so id forget that one. Next season maybe, but its over with for this season and Arsenal should be applauded for not bending over - same way Liverpool are refusing too, good on them - fuck Barca.

Yeh mate its a myth! Compare the players we have bought to what we have sold! It doesnt compare. Wenger is a tight fisted Mnager who is stuck in the times.

If the player was worth it i reckon we would bid for it - what im saying is we have spent money in recent seasons on players, this transfer window alone looks like it will be £15m which is near the top of the spending list in the league - just not often in the right position!! (GK!!)

Yeh mate its a myth! Compare the players we have bought to what we have sold! It doesnt compare. Wenger is a tight fisted Mnager who is stuck in the times.

Thats a different point altogether though isnt it - what im saying is we have spent money on new players £10m on a central defender is pretty high in relative terms when considering defenders prices....plsus a £10m purchase last season (TV) - plus the new £5m defender - thats relatively large investment in a defence.

Its irrelavant really anyway - some of our best players in the current squad were not purchased for big money - of course proven talent comes at a price - hence why Arshavin and TV were expensive, and i agree we needed a little more this season - but we are one GK away from having, in my opinion, a squad good enough to compete.

I know Wenger is being financially careful, and that £10m for him is like selling his children.

I think I would ask the question: If Cesc was sold, and we needed as near as quality replacement and they were available now at around £20m, would he sign them? (Given that perhaps £40m comes in for Fabregas). My hunch would be he would not.

We didnt pay £18 mill for Reyes in the end. It only equated to around £10mill, the rest of the fee was based on bonuses that didn't get fulfilled. Wiltord was the most expensive player Wenger had bought until we signed Arshavin, which was said to be between £15mill - £17 mill .

1. It was a joke (ok not funny to you (wink))

2. The fee was undisclosed - therefore how do you get the £16m figure? Arsenal didn't disclose it. And I just follow what they say.
