you can't really argue with the results over the past month.. hopefully he can continue to prove me wrong next month too.
time to resurrect this post? :D

I hammered you on that comment

Reasons I think we can win the league -

1. It's Christmas, so I'm in a constant state of alcohol fuelled "merriment"
2. Without hope what is there?
3. Our rivals are poorer this season, the shadow of Pep will hang over City for the rest of the season and their players may give up on Pellegrini knowing he's a dead duck.
4. If we get some of our sick notes back for the second half of the season we will have a very fresh squad (plus we only have 2 more European outings to contend with).

Reasons I think we will make an absolute ball bag of it -

1. Wenger.
2. When the pressure is ramped up on this team I'm not sure they can cope with it until they're back competing in the top 4 comfort zone.
3. Injuries - have crippled us before when in a good position and our current record suggests no easing up on that front
4. Wenger.
5. City will strengthen in the window, we will complain about it being impossible to sign players in January.
6. Wenger.

you also missed we are seasoned veterans at capitulating in february because of a combination of 3+5 leaving us to run into the february wall.

Brilliant, we win one of our most important league game for years, Wenger turned in a tactical masterclass and our key players are consistently performing in the big games.

Now there's the usual predictions of doom and gloom.
What a miserable bunch you lot are......lol

Obviously we should be winning 6-0 every game and every player needs a rating of 10 out of 10......!!??!??

We will never get a better chance than this year. Chelsea are out of it, United are done and Leicester are pretenders who will fall away.

City are the only side to contend with and they have barely put in an impressive performance for months. They look disinterested and if Aguero gets one of his standard 4-8 week injuries they are in real trouble.

If we go to Southampton (not a bad time to do so) and get a result then we go into two home games against Bournemouth and Newcastle on a massive high. Let's not fuck it up.

Last night was a massive win for simply giving belief to the side that they can do it, but I still think things will unravel as they have done every time we have been in a decent position at Christmas in recent years. This time of the season is about keeping yourself in the hunt, but come March/April when the games become decisive, I doubt we will still be even challenging. I hope im wrong, but Wenger is the king of fuck ups.

As stated a week ago, i really think that the Arsenal have a great chance this season to win the premiership, obviously not alone in that as the Bookies now make them favourites
They are now beating the big sides, something they failed to do in previous seasons, i believe the squad is showing some real spirit also, yes at times last night City were in control of possession without really hurting us, indeed we looked likelier to add to our goal tally than them, with misses from Campbell and Ramsey.

Wenger set the team up well, but still worried about his tendency to withdraw attacking players and add defensive ones around the 80 minute mark, thought it was a gamble giving the onus to them to set siege on our goal, somehow paid off

I don't think Wenger will add anyone in January as he is being told to, hope i am wrong as would like to see at least a quality DM arrive

So he has to do it with the current squad, cannot afford any more WBA and Norwich performances to come

They need to push on now and show consistency, overtake Leicester and get clear of the chasing pack, really hoping they can do it

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has labelled speculation over Louis van Gaal’s future at Manchester United as “disrespectful”.

Van Gaal has come under increased pressure from fans and the media after the Red Devils have failed to win a game in the last six matches.

Speculation over the United boss’ future gained momentum when reports linked Jose Mourinho – who was sacked at Chelsea last week – with the Old Trafford job.

Wenger has been at Arsenal for 19 years and thinks the recent talk about Van Gaal has been uncalled for.

“I personally have huge respect for Louis van Gaal and I think what is going on there is disrespectful,” said the Gunners boss.

This guy has worked in football for 30 years and has delivered an unbelievable quality of work.”

Meanwhile, Wenger criticised Pep Guardiola for announcing his decision to leave Bayern Munich before the end of the season.

“I don’t like that managers come out so early,” he said. “It’s not so good for their own team or for others who are going through a difficult patch.”

However, he did admit that Guardiola would be a coup for any Premier League side.

“He’s a top quality manager, no one would dispute that. I think of his positive attitude, that he wants his sides to play in a positive way.”

30 years experience exoneration card gets a special mention
:barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

And of course, naughty Pep being so honest with Bayern about leaving. How dare he put the club first and step aside, leaving them time to get Ancelotti? Doesn't he know he's supposed to tell the world how "close" he came to signing for Real Madrid, and all the virtual offers he's turned down etc? Sounds like someone is worried about Pep. Don't worry Arsene, Pep will go Citeh and we can return to 4th place comfort next year
:coffeespit:

I love the way it's unacceptable if anybody ever criticises Lord Arsene but it's absolutely fine for him to have a pop at other far more successful managers, in the media? Last month it was how Madrid are "a disgrace" with their spending, and now it's criticising Pep.
Pep will batter him next season as we all know, let's see what he has to say then...

Wenger is such a self-important, opinionated, arrogant, waster. Waxes lyrical about everyone else, other teams, players and clubs but dare to question or criticise him and you can visibly see his hackles rise and his eye twiching. Then the dismissive replies like the unaccountable or thirty years comments.

Never question the genius, the font of all knowlege, he who revolutionised British football.
How very dare you. Peasant!

Was about to post the same shit as Ikeybabs; won't bother now.

I wonder what Wenger's opinion of Blatter/Platini is? Both have over forty years experience in football. :rubchin:

Saw this on another website - http://www.joe.co.uk/sport/bilds-chief- ... iola/33573

I don't know how reliable that is, but I'm just adding it to the mix.
