THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I will say this a thousand times..... Arsenal is a business, Kroenke is the CEO, Wenger is his business manager, the players mandate is to make next years CL, when they are in the CL their goal is to get out of the group... reach the KO stage. ANYTHING else is a bonus. There is no accountability beyond the above. Everything else is false hope, with people like Walcott spouting utter bs and so many Arsenal supporters believing it. The minute Leicester lost earlier the writing was on the wall. If there were still any "believers" in our club before tonight, surely, surely, that insane hope has been extinguished for good??? Wenger is a charlatan, if Arsenal was a church he would have long ago been exposed as a false prophet. The man is beyond redemption as a football manager.

A harsh reckoning, but we've seen it pan out just as you've described here.

In other words, a completely fair and balanced assessment.

Will be surprised if he signs anyone in January window
I have it on good authority that there's a crocked Swede playing in the Russian league that Wenker has his eye on...

Stay tuned.....

I understand there's a 6 year old Angolan orphan refugee with 1 leg who Arsene has his eye on,he will break into the first team just after the january transfer window closes in 2029 and save Wenger's 4th place record yet again. :cussing:

Agreed their KPI is 4th place and CL knock-out.

Anything beyond that is too expensive to attain and contrary to the marketing strategy to "sell the promise of success" something in the future.

They were not suppose to win yesterday!.

in which he admitted rigging a game in September 2001 between Barcelona and Fenerbahçe
A 4:0 home win score line only the bookies will win.

Blame Kronenke, Gazidis and co. all you like, but as far as I'm concerned it's our fan-base that are the problem. They are the ones quite happy to make excuses for every defeat, and to have selective amnesia when it comes to the long list of fuck ups under Wenger. Obviously on here we all want change, but is there any appetite for change in the ground? We have fans who are happy to treat qualifying for a competition(that we will never win) as success. We had a record breaking transfer window in which we became the only side From a top league in Europe not to sign an outfield player yet no questions were asked of Wenger. Why would the likes of Kroenke change when the fans seem happy with the way things are?

How many times does it need to be said? The team reflects the manager in every way. Weak, desire less, unprepared, happy to pass the buck. We need a winner to take charge

Wenger will never bring in the strong character that we need because of the run ins he had with Viera, nobody is allowed to challenge Wenker even if its beneficial to the team, end of

So. It looks like LVG has been sacked, despite being just 3 points off 4th place trophy position. Interesting.
The ManYoo fans, who for so long have told Gooners to "be careful what you wish for" and to be thankful for what Arsene had done in getting Top 4 places...well apparently, when it comes to their club, a manager who took them from 7th to 4th, and who is just 3 points off CL places, isn't good enough for them. Please note, Wenger has performed worse than LVG at this stage of the season on several occasions. ManYoo fans made their voices heard, showed it was unacceptable...and their American owners (who remember, like Kroenke, only care about the bottom line) had to listen to the fans. This isn't like sacking Moyes who missed out on CL cash-cow, this is LVG who got them Top 4 last season.
It's an interesting contrast with Arsenal fans, forever excusing mediocrity and passively claiming "what can we do?"

They've put up with LGV for a season and a half. Yet for years they have patronised us with the old "how can you get rid of Wenger, he gets you top four every season?" line.

They will justify it though by criticising his style of play, the perceived negative boring football. Unfortunately we've had to endure Wengers own brand of boring, sideways, tippy, tappy, Barca-lite shit for much, much longer than one and a half seasons......

Absolutely. Isn't it funny how after years of telling us how ungrateful we are, all it took was 18 months for them to demand their manager's head! The boring football is an excuse. Let's be clear: performances kind Southampton last night, and blowing promising league positions through a tactically incompetent manager is boring. Going out in the last 16 of the CL every year is boring. Watching Arsenal get thrashed in the same way, every year, is boring. Watching transfer window ineptitude and seeing mediocre dross signed because it's cheap, is boring.

Yet ManYoo fans told us to forget that and be grateful to Arsene!
Wenger will be bitterly disappointed about LVG. In his eyes and as he quoted, LVG has "30 years experience". That in Arsene's majestic eyes, means NOBODY is in a position to question LVG. Not the media, not pundits and especially, not those imbecile fans! One of the main sticks used to beat LVG with is the £250m he's spent but, aside from that figure being incorrect, at least LVG had the balls to spend the money and put himself under pressure. Unlike Lord Fuckwit, who sits on that £200m so that wfwg he fails, the habitual "injuries" and "2/3 players away" bullshit excuse can be wheeled out!
I wonder why the Glazers seemed to ignore LVG's 30 years experience and hear the fans? It's almost as if people should be judged on actual achievement and not done off things they did decades before...

LVG won the CL with a young team don't you know? How many of those does AW have then?
:rubchin:
