As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Kvltman wrote:Wenger must see this is the best chance Arsenal have to win the league in over a decade. The topsy turvy nature of the season with Man Utd and Chelsea out of sorts and City inconsistent. Going out in January and bolstering the squad with the quality we need should be a mandate passed down by the board to the manager, let alone Wenger seeing this himself, if the club from top downwards had any ambition other than securing the top four trophy.
Next year I can't see this seasons chaos repeating itself to this degree, given the expected managerial arrivals in the summer, this is the chance to make it happen.
It was exactly the same when Moyes was managing manure - maureen had just returned to the prem and what did he do - NADA...and handed the title to man $hitty all because he was too stubborn to spend moolah...
It is another way in which he keeps the groundhog season on constant repeat.......Had he made the necessary purchases - we all knew were needed in the summer - we would now be 10 points ahead....typical wenger.
Blood_Gooner wrote:Henry is right in the sense. Apply a bit of context a you'll realise what he's actually saying is mancs are a serious club that want to win actually top trophies. Expectations are different at both clubs. Their fans have been spoilt rotten over the years whilst majority of our fanbase have being celebrating 4th place as success.
Henry being a Wenger bum boy means he has to be seen as part of that majority.
That's Just Wrong dude...we all know that the -ex-players stick by him regardless...But to call him that and what it implies is a No No.
I (like many others) want Wenger Gone , I would also like to hear one/any of our ex-legends tell it like it is, but to use such terminology and to imply what you are suggesting is Wrong.
Do not agree with you onebard - when ex-players start putting the manager above the club, then their love for the club no longer exists in my opinion. If henry wants to suck wenkers cock at every opportunity, then he is no longer a Gooner to me
I bumped into Niall Quinn afer a game couple of years ago. (He was doing the SKY commentary) I had taken a couple beers but was sober and asked him to "tell the truth about Wenger". His response was "you dont like Wenger?" He was very guarded and wouldnt say anything
Must be an unwritten rule that no-one critices managers on the record.
Problem with players from Wenger's successful era is that they are unable to separate now from then. It is not just the quality etc of players, there has obviously been a wholesale change of culture and management style since then - not to mention wenger having transformed from the biggest innovator to the most stubborn dinosaur.
But all of these players can't see that and fill in the gaps by assuming that we are not succeeding in spite of Wengers greatness. Henry pissed off to Barcelona not because he fancied living in Spain but because he knew we were in a downward spiral and wouldn't be winning titles of offer the chance of a CL medal. So yes he does come across as a bit of a pious prick when he sanctimoniously lectures about how great Wenger is and about how Arsenal fans should think this or that.
He didn't stick around in 2007 and sure as fuck wouldn't have stuck around at this club had he been here in his prime since then so to rock back up now and pretend that on balance everything is good here is fucking bollocks. We were the ones watching us chuck away every trophy and not challenge for a title for nearly a decade whilst he was off winning all and sundry in sunny Spain or raking in a fortune in America during that time.
The guy is an Arsenal legend and always will be - we won't see the like of him again. Doesn't mean I have to have an ounce of respect for him as a pundit.
The CYT was never a true mistress of mine, yes she's opened her legs and flashed the gash at me on many the occasion but I've resisted the urge and kept my pecker under lock and key for my one true love.
You see there's only one make believe trophy that stirs my loins and once qualification for the be all and end all is secured, the lap of apathy completed and the VT securely back in the cabinet for the 39th consecutive season, then and only then do my undies revert to being mere ankle warmers
Best scenario is that he fcuks off NOW when we still have a real chance of winning the league this season - get in a manager that knows tactics, can motivate his players and who will not be afraid to add 1 or 2 quality additions in january, and it will be goodbye virtual trophy and hello the real league trophy

That's a shame you didn't 'enjoy' it, Rodders. Still, more VTs to follow!
SydneyGooner wrote:In all seriousness, is it a foregone conclusion that he'll sign yet another contract extension regardless of what happens this season?
He's always gone on about how he honours his contracts so the best case scenario is that we win the league this season and he leaves in 2017.
There have been rumours he will stay on after 2017 ( ). So it's probably best we manage and play down expectations that he'll finally fuck off and we can get an actual football manager who wants to improve the first team and does tactics, otherwise there will indeed be mass suicides on this board like Berlin at the end of WW2. TOF has become a fucking ball and chain to The Arsenal.

That's a pipe-dream, Augie. But a nice dream to have, all the same
curious about AFC decision making. Assuming he does the 2nd most honorable thing (the 1st being to piss off now), and leaves at end of contract, what is the decision making process for a new manager? Who makes the decision, are they capable of making a good choice, when do they start the process, etc. Or will they make a non-decision, and just extend his contract for a year(s)?
