I THINK (so I'm not sure about this) but I think he is an attacking midfielder so he plays in the 10 more than midfield - I have said in the past and continue to say that we should not sign even one more player before we sign a striker, so I am 100% with you on that one. That being said, IF we got in a top striker then he would be the type of signing I would support getting in next - my feelings on odeargod are well known by now, but that being said if he isnt playing then we have no other options for that position and I do not want to see that portugese pussy wearing our jersey ever again

Right back to the "Building for the future" and "Very close" days. Fucking diabolical mismanagement. Fucking about trying to be an 18 year old midfielder when we've got nobody to score goals right now. Fuck me, might as well be 2008-18 all over again. Remember when we got that one out of some non-league side one January and of course, he never came close to ever getting a game? Fucking hell. Tomorrow, we'll be hearing about how we've got a huge transfer budget for the summer and by the first week in February it will all be about how we were very close to getting every player on the market but decided that we didn't need anyone.

What a tool

Honestly the similarities are becoming scary :duh:

Why wouldn’t he seek opinions from players, especially defenders who have played directly against certain forwards.

It would seem an obvious thing to do, it doesn’t mean he will simply then go ahead and buy a player simply based on the opinion of a current player.

Before buying any player, lots of opinions, research will be undertaken.

Unfortunately it seems what ever Arteta does or doesn’t do there are people that criticise, thats life.
It's complete nonsense.

Pep over at Cheaty has just signed 3 players in this window, do you think he consulted with his players, of course not.

Do you think he sought the opinion of his squad when he bought Haaland, of course he didn't.

I can just imagine Arteta calling Havertz and Jesus into his office -

MA - Erm chaps
H&J - Yes boss
MA - I think we need a world class, lethal finishing striker
H&J - Sorry boss?
MA - A new striker
H&J - No, no, no boss. We're good, we don't need any more attacking options. We think you need a goalkeeper and maybe a couple of defensive midfielders.
MA - Gracias, I value your opinion

Although that may explain a few things :rubchin:

You can't ask players their opinion, most can barely tie a shoelace let alone give reasoned opinion.

There is a reason that clubs have scouts, sporting directors and expensive analytical software, and it's not for player's opinions.

And, why is it only us that the press report on this ridiculous shit. You never hear of this nonsense at other clubs. You'd almost think that there was an agenda :rubchin:

And, there is no guarantee that our defenders have played against whoever the striker is that we won't actually buy, or, as is often the case some strikers play better against some defenders than others, so any opinion is completely subjective.

Whatever the case, it's a loaded question by the press to make Arsenteta look completely whacky if no-one else does it.

The journalists have a field day with legohead, and he jumps on the hook pretty much every time, even at the most obvious setups that any other manager would sidestep you can bet legohead gives them exactly what they want.

But why you may ask, well its because hes a novice, hes fuck all experience of all the different aspects of being a top flight manager and he gets exposed in all manner of ways on a very regular basis.

Thats what happens when you hire someone that hasnt done the job before….you reap what you sow and in this case the club sowed an absolute dud

I would also add that it puts players in an awkward position too because they will without doubt have some loyalty/affinity to players like havertz and jesus who hopefully the new striker would push out of the team - players like gabriel and martinelli would feel loyal to international team-mate jesus, and you'd imagine jorginho and fat chav sterling with have friendship with the german dud from their time in chavland, so how clear headed is their opinion going to be ? If the club dont trust the opinions of their scouts, then wtf are they still doing on the payroll ? I still believe that Osimhen is the best proven goalscorer option out there, and this season he has 11 goals in 15 league games and 4 goals in 5 europa league games - I know that the first comments back at me is that it is only the turkish league and I do agree to an extent, BUT chris wood is 4th top scorer in premier league so how high is the standard here then ? Plus we are creating the chances every week as it is, so what we need is a natural scorer who is in the right place at the right time and imo Osimhen will do the business

It's not just PSR rules that everyone has to be careful of, European financial rules come in next season and they are stricter than the PL rules.

UEFA have shown that they are open to bribes so it will be business as usual for the big boys anyway  Add to that the fact that uefa are scared shitless of pissing off the big clubs in case the super league idea rears its ugly head again

Agreed 100% mate. Asking players what player he should sign? That's the carry on of a complete idiot and tbh it lowers my opinion of Martinez-Lite even further. :|

100% on the money. 8)

His being a novice and his completely out of whack ego are the two things that cause so many of our on pitch failures and embarrassing moments in the media.

And before the augster jumps in with "he's been at Arsenal 5 years, he's not a novice!!! Grrrrr!!!" I will counter with he is still a novice because he hasn't learned all the basic stuff managers learn in their first couple of jobs at smaller clubs without the media glare and heightened expectation that comes with a big job like the Arsenal.

And with that I rest my testicles upon your nose, meester augeeeee...

Just pay £60m each for Cunha and Sesko, that would transform our dull team and once Saka is back would really give us a great chance of getting back on the cusp!!
