Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I backed us to go trophyless back in October..Evens at Bet365
I couldn't believe it at the time..a massive price. We were already trailing the dippers* by 9pts
I couldn't believe that we were that price to end potless
Ffs we've got a seriously bad trophy allergy
It's cash in the bank now(well it is as good as)..120 on and 240 back so 120 profit.I would far rather see the 120 lost but it is what it is.The minute the window closed I knew it was in.

The odds makers at Bet365 need sacking.

I'd say that evens is pretty generous for any club, other than City in recent years, but fuck me, we ought to be about 1/10 on. Forget "as good as" Falky, that dough is absolutely in the bank.
Btw, would you mind loaning the £240 to Legohead to help him buy a striker....or better still, for his cab fare to fuck off!!

The next thing you can blame legohead for, not a hope Saliba will be hanging around to have a front row seat to Havertz howler after howler.
Personally i couldnt blame Saliba when he goes, If i was in his shoes i would have been checking the exits much much sooner.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Saliba will be the first out of the door from this bunch that's for sure. When he goes the Wenger era copycat stuff will be complete as it will then be open season for anyone who fancies tapping up any of our players.
Broke Real Madrid will try and nick him for 50m paid over 4 years and our gormless c.unts will fall for it and waste all of the money on another Merino clone
Honestly it is history repeating itself. Arteta fans have an average age of about 21 so they just can't remember when all this started under Wenger as they were about 6 at the time but the comparisons are uncanny.
Bottle it on the big occasion, tick
Go from playing quick paced physical football to boring snail's pace tip tap, tick
Fail in the transfer window as the right kind of player wasn't available, tick
Divide the fan base, tick
Lack of leadership, tick
No voice above to question or challenge what you're doing, tick
Assemble a huge but imbalanced squad on mega wages, tick
Stubbornly refuse to address the one or two positions that so obviously need filling, tick
Become snarky with the media and start sprouting utter shite post match, tick
So all that remains now, is sell all your best players below market value for the final massive tick

But of course, the Arteta fanboys will boo him and call him a traitor, while completely forgetting that they laughed at West Ham fans who criticised Rice for moving to a bigger club.
The difference is, that while Rice would win fuck all at the Hammers (I don't count that European equivalent of the Autoglass cup), he'll also win fuck all with us. That won't be true with Saliba.
Once he goes, the other quality dominoes are likely to fall.....Saka, Gabriel, maybe Nwaneri and ..........oh...

Bang on. All you forgot old mate was a constantly renewed manager's contract, on increasingly big numbers.
I wonder when Arteta will get himself a duvet coat with a troublesome zip??

Next he'll be struggling with the zipper on some bizarre full length coat while throwing and kicking water bottles around....

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Agree with most of that apart from a huge squad , we certainly haven't got that.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 11:24 amSaliba will be the first out of the door from this bunch that's for sure. Personally I think Gabriel is the better defender of the two.

Interesting. I've always rated Gabriel, even when he was getting stick on here. He's definitely been the better of the two of late.
Worth remembering that a centre back partnership is as good as its weakest link. If a guy like Gabriel is playing with a sub standard partner, as he generally was pre Saliba, then it will affect his performance.
I always thought Koscielny was a very good centre back, but he always had a duff partner and questionable full backs, so he was often having to try to cover the entire defensive line. He'd occasionally get stick when in fact, the fault wasn't his,

Agreed, for me he's the proper old school defender, agree on kos too, he was luckily quick, he had to be to cover the others.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 12:51 pmLeftfootlegendGooner wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 12:28 pmPersonally I think Gabriel is the better defender of the two.

Yes, very quick and you'd see him dashing across the back line to cover for fullbacks that were further up the pitch than our fucking wingers. Barca were sniffing around him at one time, which didn't surprise me, although it came to nothing. I always thought that I'd like to see Koscielny as part of a top defence, because he'd have surprised a lot of people imo.
