Re: THE FORUM AS IT IS NOW
To a large extent the narrative of the Forum is suggested by the event of the football world.
The Forum was always quiet in gaps between games, and busy, sometimes frenzied, just after games, especially losses.
Whilst it was locked, amongst other incidents, there was the Redknapp fraud trial, the Capello resignation, the Suarez non handshake, the demolishing of Blackburn and the huge loss to Milan, the comeback win vs Spurs, Lady Nina's appointment as Honorary Vice President of the club, the publishing of the club's accounts, the platinum club level ticket rise/ gold level season ticket price freeze, and the ongoing Dench Frimpong vs Piers Morgan war of words on Twitter.
Since it's been re-opened, it has been quieter; we have had a couple of games, RvP/Podolski/Goetze/Hazard/Vertonghen speculation and the Fabrice Muamba tragedy.
To another extent, I think the Forum has a degree of concensus, that the team will be involved in the battle for fourth place each season, and that even if Wenger leaves, without investment of cash/spending of cash for three or more quality signings, such a level of competitiveness will likely be our lot for years to come until we have paid off the stadium bonds.

Agree with what g88ner says above but would also like to add that i think the owner's have missed a trick with the 'sanitisation' process.
The problem with the old forum was not with the posting of swear words or pictures of semi-naked women. The problem was with the atittudes of some posters and the lack of respect to other members. IMO, there is a difference between a poster saying "f*cking hell that was a great goal by van persie" than them saying "f*ck all AKB's/WO's!" Both use the 'f' word but it is clear that people would not take offence to the first whereas the second would inevitably cause problems.
Secondly, in attempting to make this a 'family friendly' forum it could end up alienating 99% of its users. The majority of the posters on here are firstly over 18, and secondly, would not involve the forum within their 'family time'. So it seems that in aiming it towards a more family orientated audience would bring no real benefits but instead could ruin the experience for the majority of the users.
For me the real problem was the attitude of some posters and the hate they directed towards others and it was this that needed addressing, not whether someone posts up a picture of Kelly Brook or uses a swear word.

Re: THE FORUM AS IT IS NOW
Ive just had a brainwave
we should have an amnesty for all the banned posters and after a while when they have re-insulted the rest of us and abused us we should just ban them again.

I do still miss those little pearls of wisdom though, especially now that his favourite "arrogant moron" Chesney has been tweeting and winding up the Twitcher and the Chavs. 99.9% of Gooners are loving Chesney's wind-ups but somewhere out there in Goonerland is a Red Member queuing up for a lager at a CL game shouting "Bring Back Almunia"

I dont know why (or even if) Red was banned anyway? I used to just ignore her.SteveO 35 wrote:Lol. I don't know whats happened to my poor old mate Red.armchair supporter wrote:Welcome back Steve.SteveO 35 wrote:Has the new look forum yet to have a thread dedicated to Abou ?

At least she didn't spout abouse and vitriol like some other members. Maybe we should start a "bring back Red campaign?"

Re: THE FORUM AS IT IS NOW
Has anyone else considered that our situation is a parody of the close-down of the News of the World. It was an entertaining rag to read because it was so controversial, but then a few idiots involved in it over-steppped the mark. Once it closed, we expected the Sunday Sun within a fortnight but it never came and now we've all learned to live without it. Now the Sunday Sun is back, we're not really bothered. We all read different Sunday papers, and we've had enough of Fake Sheikhs and Kerry Katona's love life.
Life moves on.
Life moves on.
