I think we could beat Marseille and not go through, but I'm not sure exactly how it works.

If Dortmund beat Napoli (and Marseille) and we lose to Napoli then all 3 would be on 12 points. We'd lose the head to head with Dortmund due to the away goals so it would depend on the score at Napoli.

Does that make any sense?

Took me a while to type so might have been beaten to it now

Last season that wouldn't have been possible. It was the type of game where you cannot afford to carry one player and if we had Ramsey (or anyone else) lumbering around the middle of the park with poor touches, passes flying all over the shop and general panicking we wouldn't have been able to get near executing that game plan. As it was we were excellent in possession - even if we created nothing for an hour, we were extremely composed on the ball and didn't really get robbed dangerously at all.

Giroud was dog shit for an hour but to his credit won absolutely everything in the air and did so when it mattered for the goal. Koscielny and Mertesacker predictably both had stormers, because Dortmund are exactly the sort of opposition they both excel against. And after the goal we were superb: they barely had a look in whilst Cazorla started getting back into his rhythm and Ozil turned back into the magic machine where you could give him the ball with 4 opposition players around him and he'd still manage to offload into a better position without ever looking in trouble.

We're perfectly set up to play away from home - I'm not saying we couldn't get a result against a team like them at home but no way would we be able to execute our game plan so flawlessly.

amazing focus from the players. arteta, rosicky and BFG were all top draw, not to mention Aaron. lewandowski is a cheating twat though, did he ever stop going on to the referee?

as others have said, Kos, BFG and Rosicky were fucking brilliant. TR7 worked so hard both on Saturday and today at tracking back and putting in good, hard tackles.

Not in CL, it's about the head to head results, which could be really complicated with 3 teams.

Hopefully won't come to that anyway!

Nope - it's head-to-head between the 3 teams so essentially they discount the Marseille results. Obviously if it was 12 each it would all be W2 L2 between us, Dortmund and Napoli so it would then go down to goal different STILL discounting Marseille. So if we only lost by 1 goal in Naples we'd be guaranteed to go through in those circumstances with a positive GD from the 4 games.

And if that's the same stop being a difficult *word censored*

And thankfully we don't have a very stubborn and somewhat limited manager or we'd probably have gone about 8 years without a trophy or top-two finish... oh wait...

What a great two games, Liverpool now Dortmund.
Well done lads you have played very well.
I was standing all the way through the pool game singing, the atmosphere was fantastic, lets keep it up.
