According to john cross flamini will be banned for 4 games, did he get a red card earlier in the season.

The only positive to take out of the game was that we did get that point... We'd have lost that game in years gone by.
Is that the "we have improved from recent seasons" reference ? Seeing as we got a lucky point in this exact fixture last season then where is the improvement ? Last year we got a lucky point when the team was on a bad run and this season we got a lucky point when the confidence was high and when we were playing a Southampton side missing a few starters

Re: Southampton Away
Ramsey out for a further 4-6 weeks with another thigh injury which looks like a howler by the medical staff however you spin it.
No flamini, ramsey or wilshere for at least the next 3 games. Not good.

Re: Southampton Away
Have to be honest and say I think that's it, lads. We will just drift off the top now and by March we'll be back scrapping for 3rd or 4th - which is a very slight improvement on scrapping for 4th or 5th...
Chesney made some decent saves, Giroud finished well.
But we pissed away a lead we probably weren't entitled to and that is the real difference between champions and also rans. Champions take advantage of a bit of good fortune or luck.
I have been saying for months that Flamoney will get sent off and cost us big by lunging into a stupid reckless pointless challenge. But I also don't think last night's act of stupidity was the big one. I just have this awful feeling he'll do it in a cup final or when the 3 points are absolutely vital. This is a guy that knocked himself out diving into a head to head challenge out near the halfway line - hey, I'm all for commitment and guts but I'm also in favour of basic intelligence and cop-on! I agree he has done well in games but he is a constant risk.
It's been a nice run but ultimately this squad is not good enough to win the PL and Arsene is not a good enough manager to win it either.

Exactly. You could actually shut this forum down with that message across the page until Wenger departs, because this will always be the case until he does.TeeCee wrote:ThisIt's been a nice run but ultimately this squad is not good enough to win the PL and Arsene is not a good enough manager to win it either.

Re: Southampton Away
Glad we didn't lose but this was one we needed 3 points from, it was great while it lasted and I am sure we will be reeled in by city and chavski and probably l'pool now but I also think our jinx strikes again in that Ramsey was the best player in the league for a large part of it and is now crocked, wilshere was finding great form and gets injured too.
We would do well to win a league with city and the chavs in it and have punched above our weight IMO this season and I personally don't think we have looked convincing for the past 2 months.
I also don't believe that even if we had one of Suarez, Rooney, higuain that we would have won the league either, we look flat in too many areas, I don't their training regime at colney but our lads looked tired for large parts of the season, years gone by when at our best we were as good without the ball as we were with it and would press all over the park like Barcelona do and would win the ball back very quickly.
If we have now been set up as a more counter attacking team that's all well and good but without the pace of a Walcott (or as in years gone by Henry, pires, ljungberg, overmars, DB etc) then it just doesn't work unless you can actually get ozil to sprint more than once in a game.
If the mancs end up overtaking us I will turn my phone off for the next year at least, after all the shit I've been giving the plastics I know

Re: Southampton Away
yes, there are injuries, as every season, but it's making the most of the players and squad you do have (and adding to it) that is bad management.
Wenger has no Theo, no Ramsey nor all their potential goals. So he leaves out Podolski. Who has 6 in 5 or something.
And plays Gnabry, who has 0.
To our list of injured, you can add Arteta. He's not fully fit, not the way he played. He'd been playing so well when he got injured. Now because of Flamini's lack of judgement, he'll have to play every game and will no doubt break down again.
I'm wondering if Wenger will bring in the slow, rather ponderous Gourcuff before Friday. He's always apparently liked him.

Re: Southampton Away
Got back from the match too late to post last night, but that was fucking abysmal wasn't it? First half especially, fucking hell. We made Southampton look like Barcelona. All of our lot wandering around aimlessly with no idea of what they were supposed to be doing. No fight, no passion, no ideas, no creativity, couldn't hold the ball, couldn't put 3 passes together. Honestly, has anyone told them that we're actually trying to win a fucking title? Jesus.
How ironic that Wenger always moans about teams "not playing football" and coming to kick us about. Well Southampton played us off the park, pressed and harried with the kind of commitment that we could only dream of seeing.
So tonight we surrender top spot, don't expect to see that first place again this season. It was fun while it lasted, give it a couple more games & we'll be back scrapping for 4th with Liverpool, Spurs and Utd...
Thanks Wenger.

its a crazy thing to say considering we are still 2 points clear at the top but I will settle for a finish above Spurs and United at this stage

Very very very very disappointing indeed, especially giving away the second goal so fast after a brief rally.
At least the support was great
