Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm very happy for the lad.
Well done to him, being played out of position, or not. He makes the
granny shagger look second class, on tonight's performance.
C'mon Danny lad, and welcome to The Arsenal.

I almost forgot.....

they also said he wasted a really good cross.

i'm pleased for the kid, i just hope that wonga is watching this on the beach or wherever he is.

Rodders will be happy, womnga will HAVE to mention him now.
I'm gonna quote here but not a wind up, Welbeck nicked the ball off a swiss player with a great touch round about the halfway line, ran it into the area and just dwelled too long to pass it to sterling who had stopped running but it was very close to being a fantastic bit of work.

Sterling did cross for the goal and it was a good cross but tbf sterling had an air shot from a ball that was pulled back to him perfectly (would have been like welbecks if it worked out) from 8 yards so he wasted more than welbeck.

Welbecks second goal was class, great first touch and waited for the keeper to go to ground before slotting it very firmly in the bottom corner.

interesting note from the Mail Rodders - "High up the stands at St Jakob-Park, Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis was here to check out his club's £16m investment. "

Despite being at Manure since he was eight, he seems genuinely really pleased to have signed for us. AW's got to to play him up top. We might just have got ourselves a bargain.

Very early days of course, but he looks very good- can you imagine Giroud or Sanogo getting them both in (Well either for Sanogo at the moment :| )

I know its premature maybe but he has the look of Wrighty about him for me

The thing about Welbeck is - like Walcott - he has that inherent ability to scare defenders shitless. Whether it is a realistic expectation for the rest of his game to develop enough to utilise it fully I'm not sure, but he definitely has the ability to give defenders nightmares. Would have been an infinitely better signing than Lallana for Liverpool imo.

Whereas with Giroud I get the impression that if everything clicks he is still more diligent or effective than anything else. He's never going to be a threat in behind, he is never going to be clinical 'half a yard of space is all he needs' striker. And with Sanogo I get the impression that when he's at the top of his game it just means that the ricochets of his knee and various other body parts are falling kindly for team-mates.

Didn't see the engerland game tonight but it seems that he scored a great second goal and did some good and bad things..hasn't that always been the way he has been analysed ? We all know that he has pace to burn and we all know that he will work his socks off for the team, but we are also aware that his technique isn't at the required level (yet?) and that he is inconsistent in his play so tonight seems to sum him up really doesn't it 8)

I am really expecting to see a load of very disgruntled Gooners in the new year when Giroud returns and wellbeck is shafted out to the wing - normally I would say that if wellbeck played exceptionally well in the meantime then he won't get shafted to the wing, but with le cock in charge I don't think it will matter how many goals he might score  I actually wouldn't be shocked if le postman is picked to play centre forward v citeeh at the weekend - if he doesn't intend starting le Bambi then you can expect to hear news in the coming days saying that sonogoals has been ruled out with a small injury

Probably right, Wenker won't want to admit that his protege is shite, so expect to see at least an hour of him tripping himself up and missing chances, before Wellbeck is introduced.
