As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
*word censored*. honestly however does our negotiating is my most hated person in the fucking world. I know its not a surprise but fucking hell. And I know the source is shite but still
Ahh...goal.com
Remember this "exclusive" they once came out with:
Regardless of who we get, if anyone, I can see opportunity in moving some of our current players. I reckon Wilshere is too direct to pull the strings in the midfield and could actually transform into a Tevez style striker quite quickly and successfully. Vermaelen is definitely a DM for mine (but we could do better and I think Barry would be very useful in that regard). Walcott isn't a striker and Podolski isn't a Winger. Podolski/Wilshere strike partnership with Carzola feeding them and Vermaelen providing the muscle. I'd give Gibbs a run at LW and therefore transfer wise I'm looking for a superstar left back, a superstar CB to replace Per and a keeper. I don't think our problem is in attack, it's in defence. We can score goals, we just need to become a sub 25-30 goals conceded team per season that also returns to being physically imposing at the back which also enables the front third to be more free.
So spend the massive $ we have in 3 or 4 defensive units.
The thought of moving people around is interesting but some alarming ideas there imo.
Most people I know would rather see Wilshere playing deeper rather than further forward, and it's hardly like he's looked remotely prolific in front of goal so I don't see where you've got the idea he should play up front.
Kieran Gibbs for me is also nowhere near good enough going forward to play left wing for us (particularly if we are playing 4-5-1). For me his delivery and ability to beat a man just aren't there.
Vermaelen at DM is an idea that has been touted on here by many. I'm personally reticent to indulge in converting struggling CBs into DMs - if he hasn't got the positional discipline or advance reading of the game to prosper at CB then why is he any better-suited to DM?

I'd imagine if we did get them, Wenger would put all three in defence, buy back Denilson and then sell Wilshere for £8.50- for footballing reasons obviously.

I actually think he'd kill it at striker. Too much play goes through him in the midfield for someone that likes to take on players. Get him forward behind the opposition midfield and I reckon he'd be a dynamo.
