So are we getting this Viktor then and what do people think ?

I know previously there were a lot of negative comments (such a surprise on this forum :D ) but is it a case that anyone has to be better than the current forwards.

It would make sense to buy another too , a cheaper option , Delap maybe .

I dont know that there were any negative comments towards him as such but I may be wrong - Osimhen would still be my preferred choice, but the viktor guy would be way ahead of sesko and vlahovic on my list. I still say that it doesnt matter what striker we sign if captain invisible is still our first choice attacking midfielder cos his style of slow play kills attacks - buy eze and play him in the 10 and watch our attacks speed up as a result

Don't forget Nico Williams for the left and you might as well throw in Lamine Yamal. :D

I have no fucking idea whether we will get him or not because when have we ever got one of Europe's top targets? We'll put a few bids in, let it rumble on all summer and then he'll join Real Madrid or the Chavs in mid August. I work with a few Portuguese people and I've asked them this season about him and whether it's just hype. They don't support Sporting Lisbon and all of them have said that he's a genuine point of difference to a side, is a very good goal scorer and would improve us without a doubt. My point to them has always been that their league is a fishermen's league but their point back has been that if Halaand and Salah can come to England and score goals this bloke will do the same because he knows where the goal is, knows how to get into positions and if you give him decent service, he'll score.
I'll wait and see if we get him but surely having someone who actually is goalscorer rather than a holding midfielder, an ex-chav winger/ fuck knows what or a permanently injured ex-cheaty whatever is going to be an improvement.

What we should be buying -

Viktor Gyokeres
Rodrygo

Those would be excellent signings.

Can I just say for the record, that I would rather we buy rashford for £40m than spend £60m+ on williams from bilbao - apart from the fact that I worry that williams is another adama traore (pace and power but zero brains), rashford is premier league ready and knows the league and will need no time to bed in, plus will by all accounts be over £20m cheaper. I have always believed that there is still a good player in rashford, and I think that he showed enough on loan at villa to back that opinion up

I know I am repeating myself here (nothing new I know), but it honestly baffles me how many fans are prioritising signing a winger after signing a striker - ask yourselves, did martinelli or the disappearing captain contribute more to the team last season ? I understand why a lot of fans still arent convinced by martinelli and want to upgrade, but surely upgrading the attacking midfielders position should be a much bigger priority ? Personally I think a player like Eze in the 10 would prompt a big step forward from saka next season too - for starters he would receive the ball much quicker, but also we have all seen the photo's from the psg and victims games where saka has the ball and has 3 or 4 opposition players facing him, and part of that stems from the disappearing captain constantly drifting over to saka's wing and dragging more opposition players into saka's already limited space

It also amuses me when you go onto social media and you see AFC fans predicting their starting Arsenal line up for next season and their back ups, and some absolute gobshites have partey in the starting 11 with zubimendi as back up - I dont know much about zubimendi but fcuk me if he isnt better than partey then we shouldnt be even considering buying him. Mind you every single team prediction for next season has captain invisible in the starting 11, and if that is the case then we can write off next season right now

Yeah, the few times (5 or 6 games) I've seen Nico Williams he has actually Produced very little... He Huff's & Puffs out on the flank but seldom did he beat his opponent defender... so I'm with Augie on this... though I would Stop at buying Rashford.

.....................................................

Source BBC:

Arsenal's search for a striker is focused on either RB Leipzig and Slovenia's Benjamin Sesko, 21, or Sporting's 26-year-old Sweden international Viktor Gyokeres.

Why does this kind of ring bells... like we have been here before ... they court both players .. but always opt for the cheapest one... only to find that the reason he is the cheaper of the two is because he is the lesser player of the two. :?

Lazio will pay Arsenal a fee worth 9m euros (£7.57m) to sign 25-year-old Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares in a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

I'd almost forgotten about this one... Cost us £8.5 Million when he signed, so if we can get that back that's a start...Or as Rodders would say...we need to flush all the turds we can this season
