SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Apart from the bit about him travelling to London today to sign the contract and us finally agreeing on the fee (€27m)?

Gonzalo Higuain's father Jorge has revealed that they have finally been given permission by Real Madrid to officially open talks with Arsenal.

Arsenal have been locked in talks with Real for weeks about a deal for the Argentina international striker and sources claim that the two clubs have now agreed a deal.

Real Madrid wanted €25million (£21million) for the 25-year-old, with Arsenal's opening offer believed to be €20million but it appears a compromise has now been reached, and it will represent a club-record deal for the English club.

"We have been given permission by Real Madrid to negotiate with Arsenal," Higuain senior, who represents the player along with one of his other sons, told Fox Sports Argentina.

"I will luckily be able to see my son in the Premier League soon."

Higuain is now set to fly into England and could complete his long-awaited move over the weekend.
You'll still have the doom merchants dismissing this.

"He's not coming, we're useless, we can't sign anyone, lalalalalalalalalalaa"

Real won't budge on Higuain's price.
Real are 'rumoured' to want Suarez.
We put out 'rumour' we're in for Suarez.

A cynical man might think we're forcing Real's hand..

WE know that, but only have to plant the doubt in the minds of Real's deal brokers..

I'm fairly confident he'll join, but whether he's travelling to London or not is probably as reliable as all the other rumours/mis-information out there (for example, how can we go from "activating" Fellaini's release clause to "considering" activating it, to being "reluctant" to activate it? - surely the first action supersedes all the others? :rubchin: :? - anyway, this Higuain saga seems to have every twist and turn imaginable as well; God know's how much of it is true though - in fact, I doubt even the journalist who writes the story knows! :? )

Point being, it's nigh on impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff, so I'm keeping my distance and waiting for things to happen.

By the sounds of things, Herd is taking a similar approach... even if he did take your enthusiasm a little to heart

We seem to have found a way not only to stall on transfers but to go backwards according to the mass media this summer! After agreeing personal terms with Higuain a fortnight ago we've now finally been given permission to talk with him

I agree with g88ner in that I'm inclined to say it's going to happen (unless some *word censored* like Citeh jump in at the last minute) but just as with the other reports I'm not convinced the ones about him travelling to London now are accurate. Reports yesterday seemed to think he was on holiday for a start.

Why post that fucking goal link then and insinuate that you're more likely to believe it rather than an actual reputable source in FoxSports?

Oh I know why, because it meets your doom and gloom sentiment.

If that was positive news reported on goal.com, you'd dismiss it right out of hand whilst laughing off a source well-known for spouting utter shite.

The world is gonna end soon because goal.com said so, zzzzzz...

Among the one's guilty of that is mainly that cock Wayne Veysey of goal.com who has been chatting absolute crap all summer. Fellaini this, Williams that. A complete bullshitter.
