Still think we should put a bid in for Rodrygo and test their resolve. He's a quality player and rumour has it that he's not happy so what's the worst that could happen?

 :banghead:

and

"minor issues' !?

What like he has to actually fucking Turn=Up each game
Not hoof the ball into the Car Park every time he shoots
NOY make mindless breraindead passes that give the ball away and allow the opposition to score from his mistakes

For me his sudden improvement in play all stems from his playing for a New / Extended Contract....Wait till next season and with a new contract secured and the obligatory Wage Rise he will revert to Thomas Shyte Partey. :?

With Sterling gone. Jorginho gone.
Tierney gone. Looking forward to Zinny getting an extended run. Lokonga back from loan. A fit Jesus will also be a revelation. Gabriel another new signing.

Ffs :banghead: :banghead:

This says it all about how our club is run. This bloke should have been moved on two summers ago and now we’re giving this liability a new deal. WTF?!

A squad with far too many bang average players and some duffers thrown in too. Yet people wonder why we win fuck all.

Our squad is way too small, in reality we need about 7 players coming in with some leaving as well so it's not surprising we're renewing Partey. We don't have the money to buy 7 top players so it kind of makes sense to keep him as a backup I guess.
If we go into next season with a squad way too small again it will be beyond incompetent.

Augie, I wasn't saying Sesko is a better bet just because he's decent in the air, just that he is decent both on the ground and in the air, so he potentially offers more, whereas Gyokeres offers very little in the air. Also, Gyokeres scores tons of goals on the break/ in transition and we don't really play that way very often, we tend to bore teams to death with possession for 75 minutes!

I have said a few times lately, that if captain invisible remains first choice for attacking midfielder position, then it doesnt matter if we have pele, messi or peak brazilian ronaldo up there cos our attacks will be slow and laboured and fail to utilise our forwards to their maximum

Tbh Teecee I want a natural goal scorer at number 9 now - we have had a few seasons with the cone boy fcuking about with players who have more than one facet to their game (jesus and havertz) and it doesnt do the job for us, We need a natural 20+ goals a season striker and sesko simply does not have a prolific track record - last season he scored 13 league goals and the season before he scored 14) and is more or less on a par with havertz when it comes to goal scoring. I would say that one of our biggest weaknesses is the lack of pace in our attacks, so maybe if we inject some of that into our game with a striker who is explosive in counter attacks then it will make us a better team ?

I know it looks like I am putting up a strong argument for gykores but my position hasnt changed and osimhen would be my clear preferred choice for the number 9 position, but then after him gykores and joao pedro (brighton) would be my next two selections to the point that no-one else comes close to those 3. Of course if martinez of inter was available then I would jump at the chance of signing him, but I'm not expecting that to be the case and sesko and vlahovic wouldnt even make my shortlist

I get that Tee Cee, but we're renewing an utter liability. It's again poor management on Arteta's part, because there was talk of a 50 million transfer fee for him two summers ago and I would have bit someone's hand off for that. Even 30-40 million would have been a result and we could have used it to help invest in a decent replacement for him. As it is, he's out of contract, so if we don't give him a new deal, he walks for free. Again, it's like Wenger never left, the same mismanaged clown show.

Looks like the Zubimendi deal is all but done and personally I'd rather give Albert Lokonga another chance as the 3rd option in centre mid, rather than Partey.

Of course, the other option is to play MLS in his preferred position of centre mid.

That means buying another left back, but we seem to like doing that anyway.

That's a Good shout Retro, because as sure as eggs is eggs... give it 3 weeks into the season; should he make it that far, Partey will either get crocked (again) or turn to Utter Shyte (again).

And herein lies the bigger issue of our completely incompetent management of player contracts.

Which contracts expire next summer and what is being done to address them?

What about contracts expiring in 2 summers time? Take Saliba, if his contract expires in 2 summers, either we have to pin him down to a long contract extension now, or sell him this summer to maximise the value in him. If we leave it until next summer I can guarantee he won't sign an extension and will sign a pre-contract agreement with Madrid in January.

Our contract management has generally been woeful, especially as there have also been players who have signed extensions and their form has tanked.

We just seem to fuck up whatever we do, and I think it's still a hangover from ToF. Hopefully Bertha gets to grips with this shit, but I won't hold my breath as it feels endemic within our contracts team. Although that Ayto bloke who has been around for some time has also left, so maybe there could be some changes.

I'm just sick of the continual incompetence whether in contract renewals or transfer dealings.
