The ''no one is coming'' Transfer Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Is that the modern version of the Solomon Kalou trophy that replaced the old Joel Cole one ??
Ah... Joe Cole... for me, he'll always be the one that got away... :(

Ah those were the days when there were transfer rumours and one had hope/disgust in what could happen. Now that hope is completely extinguished, the press don't even bother with linking us to anyone because no one will believe it.

Nah, Patrick Kluivert was the one. Every World Cup or Euros he'd be "about to sign for Arsenal", get me all excited then bugger off somewhere else.

I swear to god the wife still gives me abuse over the kluivert one which I bought into 100% - only yesterday evening she was taking the piss out of me by telling our eldest son (again) that this is definitely the summer where he is gonna sign for us
Mexes and joe cole were only pale imitations of the original and kluivert was the original :(

Apparantly we have bid Giroud plus 30 million for Gonzo which makes the great Giroud worth 54 million !

Bit of a Gap to fill here !

I think Giroud would be ok getting on the first train out of Arsenal tube station and never coming back.

Playing Giroud as part of a 442 formation means we have to build the team to suit his deficiencies, you don't get away with that in the PL, and 442 is dead in the water these days especially with our non combative midfield.

Leicester won the league playing 4-4-2 last season. Athletico Madrid got to champions league final playing 4-4-2 last season 8)
Was Mahrez a second striker? Really? As for Athletico I didn't see them play much apart from the CL but it's a different country with a different style of football and I did say PL.

Arsenal do not have the players to even come close to playing 442 at the moment. If you look at the players we had when we where a 442 team it's plain to see why we did quite well! Would 442 allow Giroud to score an additional 10-15 goals a season, doubt it.

Shinji Okazaki and Leonardo Ulloa both played with Vardy. I think that we do have the players to play this assuming that the central midfielders are disciplined and we brought another striker in. That being said, I am in agreement with you regarding 10-15 goals more for Giroud. He is never going to be prolific, but I do think that with another striker, he would be better with providing and battering Centre Halfs.

Both those players where impact subs really. Not sure that either of them got a long run in the team apart from when Vardy was banned.

The season getting nearer and still no sign of a CB or a striker who is mobile and can score 25 plus goals a season, not even getting close

As Seaman is saying ...sign someone...anyone

This is the worst start to any season in terms of preparation that i can remember and I'm going back a few years here .........

Okazaki had 28 starts + 8 subs
Ulloa had 7 starts + 22 subs
