Vidal also on Wenger list of midfield targets although Juve valuation seems to make it less likely than Sanchez telegraph.co.uk/sport/football…

The best policy by far.TheCook wrote:My plan is always to expect no signings at all, and then I can't end up disappointed.
Why don't we all make an agreement, stop posting here until we see an actual, real transfer, wearing the new Puma shirt, and shaking hands with an Arsenal representative.
Yes? see you 31st of August, 10.45pm.

Personally I'm not sold on khedira -is not physical enough to be a proper DM (which is what I want) but nor is he a good enough footballer to be in the team ahead of ramsey, ozil, ox, cazorla or arteta. His main attribute seems to be his box to box ability but isn't that what ramsey does ? No point in him charging up the pitch and getting in the way of the others plus if he does charge up the pitch, who protects the back 4 ?
However the biggest travesty in all of this is that we could have had Fabregas back for the same money, a better player than any mentioned on this post.
I've no doubt that the failure to re-sign Cesc is going to come back and bite us on the arse.

What makes it worse was the excuse Wenger gave for not going for him.

Decent enough player but not an upgrade on Sagna defensively. Makes you wonder why they didn't just use the money extending Bacary's contract?

I think that we should have signed demarcus beasley - seems the priority for a lot of Gooners, is to have a right back that can cross a ball so defensive skills are not so important to these fans

Going by the interview that Sagna did a few weeks ago in the papers - He said regardless of what arsenal offered him he felt like he needed a new challenge...
So basically he wants a prem winners Medal before he retires....rather than the usual VT medal...which is fair enough I suppose.

Not as a replacement for Sagna surely, as he plays down the left side augie?augie wrote:I Hate Hleb wrote:Decent enough player but not an upgrade on Sagna defensively. Makes you wonder why they didn't just use the money extending Bacary's contract?

Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
I'm talking about offering him the contract he wanted before last season. Sagna is only saying that now to try and justify his leaving but I'm sure had we offered him the terms he wanted back then, Sagna would have re-signed - title or no title.OneBardGooner wrote:I Hate Hleb wrote:Decent enough player but not an upgrade on Sagna defensively.
