Couldn't resist -

We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in Tesco, we shall fight at the checkouts and in frozen goods, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in Morrisons, we shall defend our Iceland, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight them near the peaches, we shall fight in canned goods, we shall fight in the carpark and at the shopping trolleys, we shall fight in Sainsbury's, we shall never surrender.

:D

I reckon that this thread should be renamed "the AKB zone"

after all Brexiters and AKBs are very similar - both very delusional and hoping that good times are on the way, when the reality is that they are not

id say the complete opposite, akbs and remoaners are both tied to an arcane relic of an institution that made sense 20+ years ago but went on an egotistical project above its station, and now people are scared of leaving it for what might possibly happen outside it, even though sticking with it makes little sense but they bleat about being careful what they wish for.

the similarities are that AKBs yearn for a time when Wenger was winning league titles and to get back to that time (even though it is proving impossible)
likewise leavers look back fondly at a time when the UK was a power on its own on the world stage. sadly that time has also now passed.

John Major made a very good speech yesterday.
He said " I have watched with growing concern as the British people have been led to expect a future that seems to be unreal and over-optimistic. Obstacles are brushed aside as of no consequence, whilst opportunities are inflated beyond any reasonable expectation of delivery".

compare that to the statements coming out of Arsenal such as Ivan Gazidis a couple of years ago stating that " Where we are currently is off the shoulder of the world's top teams. I think the best teams in the world are in Europe and you think about the great names in world football like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich - I don't think we're at that level yet but that's where we're aiming to get to,' said the Gunners supremo".
that has worked out well hasnt it? :banghead: Same will happen with Brexit. All the leavers saying things are ok are living in a fantasy world.

I am part of the 48% and this will become stronger by the day the same as the WOB has grown stronger.

i politely disagree the analogies with akbs and remoaners are far more in line, the fear of going alone and sticking with what you know and the country being able to do better without being tied to something that is limiting us.

what evidence do you have that the 48% will get stronger? or is it another tiger stone argument?!

Has this thread really descended into both sides comparing each other to AKBs? :coffeespit:

this is happening.

prices in the shops are also going up because of the weakening pound, the exchange rate is still very weak against the Euro so Europe (yes you know that place which is supposed to be falling apart   ) is now more expensive to visit

meanwhile how is Brexit shaping up for you? how are you benefitting?

It is beyond dispute that the pound has lost around 10% against the Euro since June 23rd last year but let's extend that time line. At the turn of the century my business was thriving so my wife and I did what many others did and bought a property in Spain. The exchange rate we got was e1.58 to the pound. Most of the drop in the value of the pound since then occurred before anyone outside his close family had ever heard of Nigel Farage. Furthermore, the first time I went to America in 1981 we got $2.20 to the pound. Most of the drop to today's value can't be laid at the door of Brexit or Trump.
