As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Robin_L wrote:I really think he could go at the end of the season. Main reason is: he IS now getting questioned a lot in the media, I've never seen so many articles, discussions about him and it's no longer positive. Basically every time we don't win a game for more than 2 games in a row the discourse starts anew and that can't go on indefinitely.
There's only 1 year left on the deal, not like it's 3 or 4. With no FA Cup victory to back him up into the summer, we'll be starting next season with negativity unless he goes. There's going to be an agreement reached and he will step down, take a year out and then take the France job.
I have said this a zillion times before but I will say it again, the fans have the power to run this cu.nt out of town for good - we all know that the wiggy b*stard will have zero interest in removing him as manager so the onus is on us fans to drive him out. You don't think it could happen ? Look at his reaction every time the fans and/or media question or boo him - where once upon a time he would give a sarky disrespectful comment (30 years in football etc), these days he throws a right wobbler and storms out of interviews (yesterday). The man has had a free ride for years when absolutely no-one questioned him and it has allowed him to develop this sense of supremacy over everyone, and now that he is being seriously questioned, he doesn't know how to handle it
That being said, if the mild booing witnessed yesterday after that capitulation was as much as he faces from here out, then he will see no reason to walk away
My heart wants to believe that with enough pressure he will go at the end of the season, but my head tells me he will stay until the end of his contract (the honourable thing ) and when we have a mild upturn in results the new contract will appear.
The "judge me at the end of the season" comment is absolutely bizarre for me What will there be left to judge him on after this week ? We are gone out of the fa cup and will be gone out of the money league on Wednesday night, so surely now is the time to judge him on those. All that is left then to be judged on is the league and surely he isn't stupid/mad enough to believe that Leicester AND the scum will screw up enough to let us win the league does he ? If not then all he will have to aim for is the never ending top 4 virtual trophy........does he really believe that the fans will be ok with him and the players celebrating finishing in the top 4 like they did in Newcastle a few years ago ?? Even finishing second in this piss poor league will be seen as massive failure by the vast majority of fans, so redemption wont come there either
I don't think we will be beaten at everton next weekend cos the cu.nt always gets a big result when he is under serious pressure - however IF we do get beaten, then the season is over for wenker (it is already over for most of us) and there will be no deflecting until the end of the season

I can't figure it out myself but if you think that he is the best man for the job then fair enough.
Hope you enjoy next season.
How pathetic you have a jibe against anyone who wants to carry on supporting the club. Who said I supported Wenger, if you actually learned how to read you would know I want Wenger out but not renewing the season ticket will not even make 0.000001% of a difference. I have said before going to football is a social occasion with me chance to catch up with mates, old work colleagues and business associates. And you have the barefaced cheek to come out with shit like this.
Even if 10,000 gooners did the same, they would be replaced by local plastics (have you seen how wealthy highbury is these days) and football tourists.
sorry but I dont equate propping up a corrupt regime with "supporting the club". Your attitude strikes me of someone who is living in the past.
you are just playing into Kroenke's hands, and I am afraid that by giving him money you ensure Wenger remains.
Kroenke has even come out and said that he is not at Arsenal to win trophies, and you have come out and said that you go to Arsenal to catch up with your mates. Surely therefore that makes you as much of a football tourist as the ones you moan about?
I go to some games yes, but if everyone stopped paying for their tickets up to a year in advance then the whole charade would come crashing down like a pack of playing cards. Other clubs supporters force change on their owners, yet all I hear from Arsenal supporters is "we are incapable of that". Well just maybe that is why the team is incapable of winning the league.
The club won't always have a ready made fanbase to call on either - "tourists" will soon have brand new shiny stadiums at West Ham and Spurs to go to. I remember going to Highbury in the 1980s and there were just 17,000 for a league match! I fear that again might be the future if people don't start trying to force this current regime out.

Even John Cross is going down this road. I think this is the first time the papers have turned this way..........................
A tonking on Weds and I think the worm may have finally turned for good, such will be the pressure. Here's hoping.
oh he's gone alright, no way back for him now.
the media are running with it this week because they know we will get tonked on Wednesday and so can apply even more pressure.
wouldnt it be ironic if the player that we should have signed - Suarez, ends up putting the final nail in his coffin.
Wenger is currently 6-4 not to be manager of Arsenal next season, 4-6 after Barcelona, 1-3 after Everton??

I am living in the past when you are comparing our fan base with that of the 80s. Are you some sort of deluded fool? With the exception of Liverpool in the 80s, 90% of football fans including Arsenal's came from the local catchment area.
I hate to tell you this but we are now a globally supported club with a national following. The Manchester supporters club alone has 1500 members, a lot of them go to the games home and away. Our membership is well over 100k, with the season ticket waiting list even if half of them decline the option is still 30,000 strong and some.
All of this conspires to Arsenal never having a problem selling out their matches. Even if there are empty seats at the emirates its not because the seats aren't sold its because our fans decide not to turn up for the odd game.
I love it how you are trying to use democratic processes to force change, when the reality Arsenal is now a dictatorship. You either like it or lump it. Jumping on this bandwagon calling for other gooners to forgo their season tickets is ridiculous especially when as you have stated you only go to a handful of games. I am most certainly not taking that.
As I said previously, football is a social occasion which more than makes up for the shit we get served on the pitch.

Spot on Rob. Many of Kroenke's portfolio managers....errrr sorry I meant ST holders tend to react angrily and lash out when you point out the simple facts to them. Wonder why....
I'll just repeat what Kroenke said last week: the cornerstone of his con is the constant income stream he gets from customers "loyal to the brand". He is banking on a group of people to continually unconditionally pay up, irrespective of success because they have "brand loyalty". Without these people Kroenke's model fails and he has to justify getting their monies. If you "support the club" then that means you're dedicated to removing the 2 major cancers ruining it from the inside: Wenker and Stan.
Handing over ST money and claiming you "support the club" reminds me of people disgusted by Mine Ashley's Zero Hours contracts and shady business practices who nevertheless continue to shop from Sports Direct.
"Oh but I don't support Mike Ashley"
Of course each to their own and every man is free to spend their money as they choose. IMO any ST renewal is a bona fide acceptance that you are happy for Wenker and Kroenke to preside over a "farce" so big we have now been overtaken by the Spuds

Nutflush,( Apologies for stepping into the handbag arena ) I dont agree that 90% of support was local in the 80s - thats just not right, perhaps 40-50% if that. Once you support a team you stay supporting them. The double in 71 will have attracted loads of fans that stayed supporting AFC wherever they were. My old man supported AFC from the 30s, yet after moving from North London in 1940 he never lived there again. Its always been like that especially after transport was a lot easier and faster in the 60s onwards. I Used occasionally go to away matches in the 70s and fans there were from all over the country even then . Maybe the folk near you at matches were locals, but I can assure you it wasnt even the case in the 70s.

Why I have every right to criticise Wenger I do it inside the stadium as well as on here?
What you people don't get is there are thousands of attending gooners that now want Wenger out, just look at the AFTV interviews. The problem is we don't have a focal voice or supporters club to vent any protest through, and I don't mean a boycott of season tickets. Redaction don't even know who they support as I pointed before some prick at the game had a banner saying he doesn't trust Usmanov yet redaction tweet criticism of the board widely on their website!
Nutflush, there is no way in gods green earth, that the season ticket waiting list is anywhere near 30k - if the number stands at 15k I would be doubtful if they would all take up the option of buying one if it became available. Whilst I can understand you not wanting to give up your season ticket after waiting a number of years to get one (I assume), I do feel that there are thousands on that waiting list that will look at the debacle going on with the club, and not want to hand over £1k+ per season - for reason many are giving up their season tickets, will be the same reason that many will refuse to step into their shoes

This has been mentioned elsewhere on the board thread but this is the biggest fallacy going in football
Arsenal are not in a unique position where people are so desperate to watch Wally, Giroud and Welbeck that they will happily queue with this virtual endless supply of fans
It's absolute bollocks - the ST waiting list is as credible as that empty Garfunkels in Piccadilly that claims they've got a 6-month wait for a table even though the food is shite and most people leave without tipping
Arsenal don't have an unlimited supply of fans desperate to watch the club, that's the thing with pandering to the tourist, they go where the success is - if they didn't, then as Rob points out then West Ham and Spuds new stadiums roll now provide alternatives for the tourist. And frankly I'd rather pay to watch West Ham play any day of the week as opposed to the bland, ponderous, soporific shite offered up by Lord Shit-for-Brains

Agree though mate otherwise, bet the phoning to say "you have just moved up the list" will happen soon tp loads of us .
Whole Season ticket things become like a loyalty card, get your away credits up for promised days at the FAC and if you let go of your ST then away go the hard earned credits. Bring back the match day programme clippings I say
