THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

To be fair to Arseblogger, he is on record saying that he wants a change of manager which is a surprise as he sat the fence for a long long while.

True that he didn't mention Wenger's arrogant comment.

If only any of those had been individually gift-wrapped and posted to the club with a for sale sign, but they just weren’t available.

And Ibra seems relieved to have squeezed out that troublesome coil. Messi seems to be struggling to deposit his, though.

Messi looks to be gingerly lowering himself to release the mother of all explosive post-beer shits. I can almost hear him whimpering, "Easy now... Jesus, easy now..."

And since when we're any of those useless tools available at the "right price" and with a note from their Mums, Dads and agents officially declaring them for sale?

I'm just glad we didn't take the plunge and instead replaced them with the Saved from Dizzying Prices XI

Wenger on our strikers struggling to score: "We have quality strikers, if we produce the quality of performance we did against Barcelona our strikers will score goals". He is actually pretending that the reason for all our strikers being shit is that we don't create enough chances. Also, what is he proud of in the Barca game, missing chances constantly does not equal a good performance.

“Of course, we need to look over our shoulders because it’s very tight,” said the Arsenal manager. “I believe the Premier League [title race] is far from over. But we also have to look behind us because things can change very quickly. We want to move forward, but I’m conscious that our position is not secure, even where we are. Things will change between now and the end of the season, that’s for sure.

“West Ham are a threat. They’ve had very positive results at home, and went to Manchester United in the FA Cup and drew 1-1, so they are a threat. But we have to take care of our own destiny, and that’s by producing the performances we expect from ourselves. We have to give 100% to finish well in the Premier League and be in the fight until the end.”
What happened to the confidence then Arsene?

As for the virtual XI, would Kompany, for example, have developed into a world-class defender under Wenger's tutelage, or would he have become another Djourou?

It's all about lowering expectations and making a massive failure look like a wonderful achievement. Tell everyone that it will be hard to finish in the top 4 of the shitest league season in recent memory, and when you finish third, you can tell everyone how amazing you are. What a wanker.

Wenger coaching that team would definitely get us fourth place.

We moved to the Emirates to "compete with the biggest clubs in Europe" and we "are on the shoulder of Europe'a giants" according to
Lord A and Gazidis. So how funny to see our titanic struggle to overcome the oligarchs of Leicester and Spuds, to succumb to oil money Watford in the cup...whilst talking up the amazing achievement of staving off West Ham for 4th
His comment that "our position is not secure" is a clear reference to 4th place. Disgraceful joke. :censored:

In 2016 the quote should be modified as follows
"compete with the biggest clubs in East London" and we "are on the shoulder of the East Midlands giants"

I wonder when Souness will reverse track and talk about Wenger's greatest ever achievement of beating financially doped Southampton and West Ham into 4th
