Gunners to seal €3.5m bargain deal for commanding centre back?
Hamburg's Jérôme Boateng is being linked with a move to Arsenal, who are ready to pay €3.5m to land the 20-year-old centre back.

Jérôme has not been put off the idea of a move to the Premier League by his brother, Kevin-Prince Boateng, who has endured a torrid time in the capital with Spurs.

At nearly 6ft 4inches, Jérôme Boateng could add some much needed height to Arsenal's defence, so could be a valuable acquisition.

I saw some of that game last night (germany u-21 v spain u-21) and from what I saw the guy stood out as an absolute class act 8) He seemed to read danger very well, covered off a lot for his team-mates and was very strong in the tackle. I know that I only seen parts of the match and I know that I am one of those advocating buying proven quality experienced players but if this guy is as good as he looked in the clips that I seen then I would def buy him :barscarf:

Would be no bad thing to buy a player like him as long as we buy someone else in there as well.

I just hope the deal is done, as if he has a good tournament the price is going to go up

I saw that guy a lot of times in the german Bundesliga.
IMO he´s not much better than Senderos.
Too young, very unexperienced.
Won´t help that much... :(

Wenger's back with £15m for fiery Felipe

By Simon Jones (apparently the "insider" at the mail) Last updated at 10:31 PM on 16th June 2009
Arsenal are preparing a renewed £15m bid for Fiorentina's midfielder Felipe Melo.

The fiery Brazilian has been tracked by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for the past three years, since he was playing in Spain with lowly Almeria. He moved to Fiorentina last summer, quickly earning a reputation as a robust midfielder with an eye for goal. In his first season he collected 17 yellow cards and three reds.

Arsenal made enquiries in December and followed up with a tentative offer in January but were told the 25-year-old wasn't for sale. Inter Milan have since come in with an offer, which is reported to be £15million plus defender Nicolas Burdisso, yet Melo would prefer Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Thomas Vermaelen's agent is confident the 23-year-old Ajax defender's £10m move to Arsenal will soon take place. His agent Sjaak Swart said: 'It's more a question of when than if it will take place.'
Arsenal will need to sell to fund their planned spending spree, with Emmanuel Eboue expected to be among the leavers. But they are likely to rebuff an £18m approach for Gael Clichy from Real Madrid.
Wenger is reluctant to lose a player he has watched mature into a high-class performer and Clichy said: 'I heard there is an interest from Real Madrid, but I have a contract with Arsenal which I intend to respect unless the club say otherwise.'
Xabi Alonso crocked his Spain team-mate Cesc Fabregas in training in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Arsenal midfielder limped away and was visibly angered by the tackle. The damage to Fabregas' left instep is not expected to keep him out of the Confederations Cup match against Iraq tonight

new goalkeeper

http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Foo ... nid-57170/

Vincent Enyeama’s representative has claimed that the Nigeria keeper was last week on the brink of joining Arsenal.

Hapoel Tel Aviv's Enyeama recently caught the eye of Arsene Wenger whilst playing for his country against France and is subsequently reported to have attracted a bid from North London.

The player’s representative, Tony Martich, seems to suggest the fee in question eventually scuppered any potential move and prompted Wenger to instead extend the contract of current second choice keeper Lukasz Fabianski.

"Vincent was very close to sealing a move to Arsenal, he had already agreed personal terms but Hapoel demanded €2 million - and Arsenal pulled out," Martich told the Israeli press.

"Israeli clubs need to understand that the Ligat Ha'Al doesn't mean much to the biggest clubs in the world."

Enyeama – who takes penalties for his club side – is nicknamed ‘The Cat’ and was picked out earlier in the season as a player to watch by IMScouting.com.

surely if he was that good, we would have paid that very small fee of 2m

sorry mate, put the name in the post subect at the top. Marouane Chamakh, 25 year old striker for borbeaux, scored 13 goals last season, was described as a real bargain at 10 mill, typical wenger signing.

Also heard of this at work today, did not hear it myself but got told by a colleague about it, being a done deal.

Hopefully he will be a direct replacement for greedy and chamakh is 6ft2.

I have searched talkshite website and others and cannot find a thing about it.

Phillipe Auclair was the jounalist, who is a friend of wengers and was the one to "break the news" if you like on gallas losing the captaincy.
