not yet, but it's a matter of time.

[quote]Wenger reveals reasons for Campbell deal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has spoken publically for the first time about his decision to sign former player Sol Campbell on a short term deal at the Emirates. The former Spurs and Portsmouth defender had been without a club since quitting League Two side Notts County after one match and has become the first player during Wenger’s era to return to the Gunners after being released.

“First of all, he is in good shape,â€

I'm not a big fan of conspiracies but a thought crossed my mind this afternoon: it was alleged in the press and media yesterday/today that Senderos had signed a pre-contract agreement with an Italian side for next season. What if AC Milan, having had him on loan last season but unable/not wanting to cough up the necessary readies we were asking for, sent him back - but with the intention of picking Senderos up for nothing when his contract runs out in the summer? :? :?

This is just another way to save money  no transfer fee, low wages, perfect, Wenger will be wanking over this deal, never mind that Sol's way past it and at this point in his career i'd rather see Pascal Cygan in the line up than Sol  , but that doesn't matter, he's a cheap option and his name alone will placate some fans, it's the perfect deal for AW and the board..
I can quite believe that Sol is only going to get £20k a week (ONLY... did i just say that :banghead: ), what he offers now he's not even worth that, i think he knows his career is on it's last legs and he's just happy to eke out whatever he can before it ends, i doubt he can believe his luck that Wenger has given him this opportunity.
As for Wenger i'm getting a bit sick of the constant convenient changes in philosophy when it suits him, the quality players we have lost due to the not being able to go against his philosophies and then he goes off and breaks his philisophies for duds...honestly almost everything he does now seems to be totally dictated by his obsession with saving money..i don't know what the hell has happened to the f*ckers ambition..he must realise the title is up for grabs and a bit of investment now would only give us a better chance, yet after making this mistake again and again he still doesn't seem to have learned his lesson, making a mistake is acceptable...making the same one again and again is f*cking criminal...

I cannot believe, even in this era where bullshit reigns ( ), that there are so many comments (inc from wenger himself) about the possibility of sol returning to the england squad

I know I have said this already but 3 days later I still cannot get my head around the thinking of this signing and frankly I feel that the club should be embarassed by this latest "foray" into the transfer market   European superclub my arse

Campbell is a super signing. He's a virgo, naturally fit, always learning. Hunger back, he can see there is a medal there for the taking. Arsenal, by clauses in the contract governing the profits derived from the new stadium, have to spend a certain percentage of their profits on the team. We only need a couple of players. Campbell is one. Whats the alternative, Silvestre.

Now, apparantly there is still 35m left. Make a name for yuorself Arsene, Rooney or Torres. If there is 35m there is 45m for the right guy.

I reckon spid is in reality France national team coach Raymond domenech... The only person on earth basing his team sheet on the players star-sign.

Arsenal is delighted to announce that Sol Campbell has rejoined the Club until the end of the 2009/2010 season.

Manager Arsène Wenger said: "We are delighted to have signed Sol Campbell until the end of the season. For both club and country, Sol's career just speaks for itself. He is a hugely experienced and intelligent footballer, who will bring a great amount of quality and knowledge to our squad. Sol as a player and a person will be an enormous asset to us.

Campbell, who will wear the number 31 shirt, played 45 minutes for Arsenal Reserves at West Ham United on Tuesday night. The Gunners' second string were 2-0 up at half-time when Campbell came off as planned, after playing the match through a Reserve League registration.

I've been away for a few days and thought someone was winding me up when I first heard the chit chat about this potential transfer.

What an absolute fucking joke is all I can say - this is a guy who in his last season walked off at half time with the huff after being made to look like a little girl by Bobby Zamora (of all people), left the club for a move abroad (to Portsmouth), re-invented himself as one of Sven's mercenaries (no we're not here for the money, we've always loved Notts County), then decided to sponge off our training facilities.

Last time I saw him in the flesh when we drew 2-2 with Pompey at the bowl, I can honestly say I've seen cruise ships and long life milk turn quicker than him

Yes, welcome back Sol. Another inspired piece of Wenger brilliance in the transfer window.

This - coupled with the signing of the 17 year old Bolivian who will now disappear for 2 years on loan and will return to have all the impact of Vela and Merida - have given me all the belief I need that we will win the title

I repeat - what an absolute fucking joke :banghead:

I did flirt with the idea for a minute, but come January, Arsene will always do his best to quash my efforts  What a clown

Yet for the last 2 summers when I suggested that it was time for the great man to go there were many wenger supporters saying that he had to be given another transfer window to correct things - how many more transfer windows is he going to need ? :? Too many fans proclaimed that wenger knew there were issues in the squad now and was ready to fix them but that would mean wenger having to sacrifice his whole belief system and that aint never gonna happen  Until wenger himself decides it is time to go we will have to accept(never  ) that we will be watching shite like almunia embarrassing our club while we stumble from one season to the next while proclaiming each year that our players are older and more experienced now and that this will be our year  Sounding like the tottenham scum now aren't we ?

It does make you wonder in a time of high unemployment, people losing their business's, houses, marriage etc because of the ecenomic downturn and yet £40,000 PER FEKIN week is seen as LOW WAGES for a has been football player :?

Well all I can say is that I completely agree and have felt the same way for some time. This latest episode with Campbell is the just latest that heightens my fears for the club. I really do think this season though there is an increased wave of ill-feeling towards the club and its policy. At the Everton game the other day there was a number of dissenting voices in the section where I sat and when I watched the Burnley beam back at the bowl many a Gooner expressed their discontentment openly.

Every gooner fan knows that we need a GK, more midfield power and alternative options up front without RVP. He's done nothing to address the keeper issue, the first game without Song was desperate in midfield and watching Eduardo and Vela tip toe around is depressing. So what have we done....signed a 35 year old has been (obviously on the back of the huge impact Silvestre had in a similar move last year) and a 17 year old kid that we won't see anything of until 2012 at least.

BUT....the worst thing of all, is that Arsene feels that his policy is even more justified given the stories of the Mancs and Mickeys spiralling debts. Conveniently forgetting other clubs that invest in top talent without risking the future of the club.

What would be wrong with selling Senderos, Vela and a few other mis-fits and investing a relatively modest £5m on someone like Chamakh ?? That's not being reckless with money - it's being sensible
