Agreed. But it is also ludicrous to think that an alien race could travel the light years involved using technology that is basically very similar to ours! I reckon they are out there, but I don't believe they are regularly visiting us. The logistics do not add up.
It's also ludicrous to assume that any alien race (possibly millions of years older than man) would be confined to using technology which is "basically similar to ours".
Top Londoner and olgit, you misinterpret my words... what I mean is that in the vast majority of UFO lore that has existed since the 50's the public and media perception seems to be that visiting aliens look similar to us (1 head, 2 arms, 2 eyes, 2 legs, upright bipedal gait) and use similar technology (capable of movement through our oxygen rich atmosphere, use of jet-type engines and other fuel burning propulsion systems, the ability to hover etc).

I feel we are making the aliens fit our preconceived idea of what aliens should look like and what their tech should be like, heavily influenced by comic books and film...

The odds are that any alien visitors (if they ever did visit) might well be totally unrecognisable to us as lifeforms...
Absolutely spot on with the highlighted bit. There is some laughable "evidence" including video/stills/ eye witness accounts which mention silver saucer spaceships with port holes and little green men. Personally, I disregard 99% of "witnesses" (past and present) as hoaxers, attention seekers, or simply people suffering from delusion.

However, there are some events which defy rational explanation. For example, the "Phoenix Lights" event. Thousands of people saw a massive, slow moving triangular or boomerang shaped object which was so big that it blocked out the stars as it moved above. Five circular lights could be seen. Two hours later the military sent some planes up which dropped five flares. This is the video which is widely circulated. The Governor of Arizona held a press conference which basically took the piss out of all those witnesses. He has since placed on record that he did it to avoid "public unease". And he admitted that he had seen exactly the same thing as all those other people. This proves that government people are capable of cover ups.

The head of the Belgian air force went public about the triangular objects which appeared in Belgian airspace some years ago. F16s were scrambled to intercept. When the objects were approached, they moved away at speeds and vectors which are not even possible according to our understanding of physics. This is all backed up by pilot statements and radar.

The human race is not yet intelligent enough to understand all that happens around us.

I agree Oldgit.

What with an indoctrination of state education and dumbing down on television and main stream media, from birth. Being aware is something that comes with experience imo.

I just hope that other life forms do not have an equivalent of a Rupert Murdoch among them.

Your restricting yourself to Newtonian principles of Motion and our own views of time ,here DB

In my mind we have been visited a number of times, Earth I'm convinced used to be a favorite for people from Sirius to come to on stag parties just as Dublin and Prague are now for us !
Whilst they were here they snorted copious amounts of Bugle built the Pyramids Machu Picchu fort a giggle and made up weird religions involving sacrifice for the savages to worship ,a bit like Bangkok now .
Kept themselves amused for centuries ( a mere weekend in their time )
Eventually they would get bored and leave !
Don't you sometimes feel like we are some snotty nosed kids science project that's been left in the cupboard for 20 years and is turning into shit,I know I do ! :barscarf:

As explained above, I'm NOT saying they use our tech, or that they would be imited because they use our type of tech. I'm saying that the majority of reports of sightings make the sighting fit our tech knowledge, that most people are misconstruing natural phemonena based on their preconceived ideas of what Alien tech would look and act like, influenced by cultural iconography in films and comic books. Geddit?

Aliens will only make contact when they can make money buy doing so ,at the moment their children buzz round earth for a giggle to watch the wild animals ,just as our children are fascinated by creatures at the Zoo !
Dolphins like people but they don't want to talk to us ,they made their decision to stick to the water many years ago !
