Olivier Giroud - Another Alan Smith or "Le Chapman"?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Is that before or after you win trophies for Barcelona?

All those European Cups, Copa Del Rey's and La Liga's I'd win at Barca would pale into insignificance when compared to the plethora of virtual fourth place trophies I'd bag at Arsenal :barscarf:

You would go down in history as having contributed to by far the greatest pre-tax profit, including player sales, the world has ever seen. :barscarf:

I honestly see him hitting 20-25. He is too good in the air and once we get some quality crosses into him the goals will come

I think it's not just about how many but how they affect the outcome of the game and who they are scored against . Scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win or getting the winner against the Mancs , Chavs or Spuds is what we really want him to do. Tomorrow would be a good time to start !!

we've been shooting a lot from range this season to be fair. cazorla and giroud are quite good at it
Arteta too. Is it just me though or are the frequent shooters almost always our newest arrivals? Maybe I'm just looking for it too much lol

Henry's league appearances and goals (according to Wikipedia)...

1999-00 31 17
2000–01 35 17
2001–02 33 24
2002–03 37 24
2003–04 37 30
2004–05 32 25
2005–06 32 27
2006–07 17 10

The point being, 15 goals for Giroud in his first season with the current Arsenal team I think is a fine target!

Nick, you just inspired a re-wording of a classic Arsenal song, mate! :-P

"And it's Arsenal! Arsenal FC! By far the greatest pre-tax profit, including player sales, club the world has ever seen!"

:barscarf:

Hate to say I told you so...
Yeah, and I hate to tell you that the bloke produced another display in a big away game that would have shamed Chapman tonight.

One of the slowest footballers I have ever seen. How can we counter-attack with pace with this sloth of a footballer.

Slower than the fella in your profile picture - that's saying something

In fact judging by recent form I think Kolo scores more often than Le Chapman

Not trying to scapegoat Giroud here (he was bought, picked and trained by Wenger) but I can't get over how shit a footballer he is.

  • Touch of a rapist (sadly not the Dutch rapist)

Slower then Mertesacker (Michu is only 3 inches shorter but is twice as quick)

Over exaggerated body gestures after literally everything he does (I think he loves himself, trying to look good for the cameras

    Shit link-up play

Holds on to the ball for far too long

Every week we are seeing a team with a better CF then us. Berbatov, Fellaini, Michu, Defoe, etc etc

Have done some research on his contract and to my horror;

Contract until 30.06.2017

But you've skipped over all his positives which are

1. "He works hard" (becoming as much of a myth as Arsene's fabled youth academy)
2. He's not a bad looking bloke

Err...I think that covers it

Think it almost time to end the debate- what a fucking useless performance. I felt he went missing even when we were playing well in the 2nd half. I can barely remember him winning a single aerial contest and that finish in the 1st half

He is clearly not a striker that is good enough for the top level. I hope today finally puts to bed any myth about him having any "presence" and a great work rate- he was anonymous today.

But still the fans will sing his song, I think just because they know the words, the tune and it sounds loud, it can be the only reason, coz it doesn't inspire him, doesn't support him, they'd be better of booing the *word censored*!
