Reid from West Ham, Defoe as a cheeky bench back up, Hernandez from united (as if they would - we did!)

Defoe, Remy or Benteke makes sense, they are used to the PL and would need less time to fit in, and anything would be better than Barry Bender.

Might not be superstars, but January wouldn't be the ideal time to bring in someone from the continent I think. prove me wrong though. If need be, get one of them on loan till the end of the season untill we find someone better.

Put in a 50m bid for Suarez in January and he'll most likely kick up a fuss again and even hand in a formal transfer request as he won't pass up a second chance to join us. The victims will find it extremely difficult/nigh on impossible to keep him then.

Depends on how the respective clubs are doing at that time as well though.

I honestly don't think 50 would be enough. Worth a go but I'd be shocked if Liverpool did business around that figure. If he had the 40M clause then we'd have been in business but otherwise I don't think we have much of a chance now.

I also can't see Wenger pushing Giroud out now with a mega name signing. Never gonna happen in January unless we go thorugh an absolute shocker between now and then.

Or (as many fear/ed) Giroud suffers the kind of injury that see's him being out for the rest of the season....ONLY then will Mr Bean buy anyone.....sadly we are stuck with football's equivalent of the buddha

Buddha Bendtner - it's kinda got a ring to it!? :D

I sugested signing remy in the summer but can people stop suggesting him as a january transfer window ? He is, unless I am mistaken, on a season long loan so cannot be sold until next summer anyway.

I totally despise any system that leaves us playing 1 up front but the problem is that we are now getting results (albeit against weak teams) whilst playing that system. Would ye risk destablising the team by signing a suarez type player and going 2 up front ? I sure as hell would not for 1 second support the idea of buying the cannibal and then playing him out on the wing like he has done with podolski :x Two journo's on Sunday Supplement on sky a few weeks ago were adamant that the cannibal will try and force his way out of scouseland in january which would present a conundrum for people like me - on one hand he is a dispicable little crunt but on the other hand he is top top quality and could make THE difference between success and failure this season.
Saying all that, I still expect him to go to madrid

They'll not say no to 50m for a player who has submitted a formal transfer request. I think Suarez would do it if we bid again, with us top of the table and the victims not doing too well. He was desperate to join us in the summer.

As for Giroud, I'm still not convinced by him as a starting striker and in any case him and Suarez would be able to play together so shouldn't be a problem.

Benteke would surely cost us much more than he is worth?

Sadly there dont seem that many available in the PL that would do it for us- I guess The Chavs wouldnt even give it a seconds though us having Ba , or Lukaku, though I imagine his loan deal prevents that anyway :( ?

Ba must surely be pretty tired at the lack of opportunity there, though I guess the pay for it isnt too bad

Hows about an attacker based in North London who had to train with their Youth team recently

I think we should go for Sneijder he is apparently unhappy in Turkey. There is always Joe Cole and of course Remy 8)

I was tempted to view it as a bit of a Catch 22 situation where Wenger will see a strong position at the start of Jan as proof that the experiment is finally paying dividends and the squad doesn't need to be added to.

But after a bit of thought I'm not so sure. What we're desperate for is a quality striker and unless a club actively tries to offload a class forward at a cut price I couldn't believe Wenger would spend £70-80m in one season under any circumstances. I do also think that despite being unbelievably stubborn and extremely smug Wenger knows that even if Giroud is inked in as #1 striker we need another viable option there.

All in all I think we'll repeat our August last ditch attempt to go for somebody like Demba Ba as a short term cheap solution - and I'm not sure it'll be enough to make a difference in the grand scheme of things.
