Arsène Wenger has ruled out a move for Gokhan Inler.

The 24-year-old Swiss international was heavily linked with a transfer to Emirates Stadium in the summer when the Arsenal manager openly admitted he was chasing a defensive central midfielder.

However it appears Wenger is no longer tracking the Udinese player. After Saturday’s win over Plymouth, the Arsenal manager was asked if he was interested.

“Yes, in the summer,â€

From The SUN by CHARLIE WYETT and PAT SHEEHAN:

ARSENE WENGER is ready to rekindle his interest in Portsmouth’s Niko Kranjcar.

Arsenal boss Wenger is desperate to land two midfielders in this month’s transfer window and has targeted the £10million-rated Croatian, who he tried to sign last summer.

The Arsenal chief has offered West Ham £5m cash plus 20-year-old striker Nicklas Bendtner for former Gunners defender Matthew Upson, while Kolo Toure could still be on his way to Manchester City.

You're dead right nutty. Talk of him buying out his contract in the summer is very worrying. As he's not very active at the moment, surely we should give him some reading i.e a new contract to mull over

Technically not linked with us but Portsmouth on Sky Sport on-line, Joey Barton. Not worthy of it's own thread but a useful signing I reckon and perfectly within our budget price range for a position desperately in need of filling.

Barry Ferguson  ... yeah, good shout, Augie! (he says, as he frantically calls for the men in white coats  :-P )

I suppose he could "do a job"... and probably a better one that Song, Denilson or Diaby! but surely there's someone out there with real quality?! :?

History is littered with players who for one reason or another hasnt worked out with a club but after stepping down a level have come back up again and proved to be a stronger player for it. As I said before I dont particularly like the guy but he does like a tackle and can be a nasty bastard on occasions which is more than any of our current bunch can do but then maybe it is a sign of how desperate I am for a midfield enforcer that I even mention the guy

eboue to inter?

Post by yeahbaby »

not sure if this has been posted allready.

Emmanuel Eboue has revealed that Inter Milan are keen on prising him away from Arsenal.

The Italian giants have been linked with an approach for the Gunners' utility man in the past, but have always kept their distance.

However, with the January transfer window now in full swing, the rumour mill has spluttered back into life.

Eboue has struggled for form and fitness this season, even coming under fire from his own supporters during one memorably disappointing showing against Wigan.

He claims to be happy to remain at the Emirates Stadium for now, but admits the issue may be taken out of his hands.

"I have been linked with Inter before, but at the moment I am happy at Arsenal," Eboue told skysports.com.

"I am fighting to reach the level I was at in 2006. I have been the victim of many injuries and that is why I have not been consistent enough. But I will fight and prove my worth to the fans.

"I am happy at the club. Inter are a great club as well, but I don't know what will happen. Let's wait and see."

News of the World:

By Geoff Sweet, 10/01/2009
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is to step up his bid to sign Boca Juniors hardman Sebastian Battaglia.

The £4million-rated Argentine midfield ace, 28, voted Boca’s best player in a poll, is a ball winner and just the man to perk up the Gunners midfield.

His agent confirmed interest from a London club, plus two from Italy.

Sky Sports:

Alberto Aquilani
is set to end speculation about his future by signing a new long-term contract at Roma.

Arsenal have long been linked with the Italian international midfielder, whose current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

But despite the interest from England and around Europe, the 24-year-old is ready to extend his stay with the Eternal City outfit.

Looks like we're not prepared to pay enough for Arshavin. :( F365

Zenit St Petersburg have revealed they have turned down a bid from Arsenal for midfielder Andrei Arshavin.

The Gunners are hoping to sign the Russian schemer as they look to bolster their attacking options in this month's transfer window.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been coy on his side's interest in Arshavin, but his club are believed to be leading the chase for the 27-year-old.

Arshavin is determined to leave Zenit this month after being frustrated in his attempts to move last summer.

Reports suggest Zenit are demanding a 20million fee for Arshavin, but the Gunners value the 27-year-old at considerably less.

Zenit spokesman Alexei Petrov has confirmed Arsenal are the only club to have made an official approach for Arshavin, but that their initial offer was turned down.

"I can confirm that Zenit did get an official offer from Arsenal about Andrei Arshavin," Petrov told the Mail on Sunday. It was rejected as insufficient.

"They offered about 10m. No new offers have arrived from them since. At the moment, Arsenal are the only club to have approached us about the player."

It remains to be seen if Arsenal will increase their offer for Arshavin with fresh reports suggesting Manchester City could hijack their move.
Deja vu all over again. :?

SLAG reckons:

That Arsenal are making a double swoop from AC Milan and signing Emerson the midfielder and Marco Borriello the striker, I tell you how I know this its because I have a friend who is an AC Milan ST holder and he said Milan are getting rid of these players to bring in Beckham plus others..you heard it here first
