A distressing read to say the least.

The most baffling part was the mention of "Wenger’s search to replace his iconic former captain" - when exactly did this 'search' begin? When he 'searched' the Chartlon subs-bench high and low, 29 hours a day, 9 days a week to recall the second coming of prime-Makelele?

Walcott and Bale might disagree with that point of view but many of the others has disappointed at their new clubs, especially those who ended up at Anfield.

Another window and yet more fannying around by le bumhole  .Im not surprised one bit though,as long as we have a squad capable of getting top4(which we have) itll do le bulb and wiggy just fine.We all know they wont go out and get the players required for a tilt at top spot.

It is the single issue that upsets me most over the past decade - Bergkamp is the best player to ever play for the club imo and is missed greatly but at least we bought arshavin to replace him (even if he wasn't utilised properly). We have NEVER replaced PV4 and I would argue that we have never even tried - people will point to gilberto but he wasn't the strong physical DM that PV4 was, and he was never gonna be the guy who protected our smaller ball playing midfielders

I am so desperate for us to sign a big physically dominating DM that I would nearly ask PV4 to come back and fill the role now

Wengers latest press conference, saying thats about it now as far as squad strengthening goes.....

Unless we are handed something last minute, such as Benzema, we are going into the season with Giroud and Wellback leading the line

Giroud will have games such as Monaco at home where he just cannot finish, and these will cost us dearly points wise, he's too slow and too wrapped up in himself mentally to be a truly top class striker

TBH.....battle is on for top 4, but if everyone else strengthening, thats no formality either

IF there is No FA Cup and Top 4 Wenger will surely retire......a victim of his own making

And the usual bullshit spewed from le cocks mouth at this mornings press conference, about how he doesn't expect us to buy any more players in this window - I know that g88ner argues that we shouldn't listen to what he says and that we should watch what he does, but every transfer window when he says all that we hope that he is bluffing but the reality is that he rarely is

Anyone see his response to the questions about ozil leaving ? As a Gooner and an ozil fan, I have to say that I was far from convinced by his response that ozil would be staying

if we dont buy anyone else will even the most blinkered AKB finally accept that Wenger has no ambition beyond getting into the top 4?
if we sell Ozil then the club becomes a laughing stock.

Also, Schneiderlin isn't really a defensive midfielder.. he's more of a box-to-box and again, if we are signing a box-to-box midfielder, I'd rather someone of superior quality especially at the price.
"Aiming higher"? Why? Let's look at the evidence.
Schweinsteiger (WC winner, CL winner, 7 Bundesliga titles) was "too old".
Schneiderlin "isn't good enough" apparently (but he's good enough for ManYoo go figure)
Vidal is "not that great" apparently. So he won't do right?
Kondogbia was available, but apparently we couldn't compete with a team in Italy that has no be-all-and-end-all CL footeh

So as usual, Wenger has sat back and waited for the top teams to snap up all the best players up for grabs. Wenger was waxing lyrical about how good Schweinsteiger was yesterday - so why didn't he bid? Ppl are creaming themselves over what Cech would bring to the dressing room. But Schwein had won far more than Cech! Couldn't he have brought that German ruthlessness sadly lacking in Mertesacker?

The way I see it, there are now only 3 significant "top class" DCMs that Arsenal could realistically go for.

1. Marchisio of Juve. He's quality and he can be bought.
2. Javi Martinez. A decent offer of £35m and Munich may consider selling. He'd be my first choice tbh
3. Lars Bender. We've been here twice with two joke £18m bids.

I can't see who else is possibly an upgrade on them.
Wanyama is very decent shout but will probably cost as much as Martinez now that S'oton have sold his partner.

Did someone mention Wilshere as a solution?
LOL. With that fitness record and his tendency to hold the ball forever, what could possibly go wrong!
 :barscarf: :barscarf:

I take it you think Chambers, Ox and Walcott are all flops then yes?
Oh surely they're the exception the rule? :rubchin:

10 years to find a suitable keeper (making £1m bids for Schwarzer in between), 10 years to find a suitable captain who is a leader (still not got one, Arteta LOL), 10 years to find a suitable Vieira replacement (until the new Francis "Vieira" Coquelin drive down from Charlton in shining armour lol), 10 years to win a trophy if any kind etc. Maybe if we wait another 10 years he will decisively address the glaring gaps in the transfer window and act early.

Ok I'm dreaming there...

I swear all the AKBs kept claiming things "were different" now that he had money to spend and he made "one Galactico signing every summer". Hmmm. He has at least £70m to spend on transfers and has so far spent £11m on Cech but recouped some by selling Podolski. Joel Campbell will also be sold for a fee, and likely one of the keepers. So I reckon it'll be a net spend of around £6m.
The club that only won 3 games against the top 8, had less points than the season before and relied on the weakest pool of strikers I've seen at Arsenal for 20 years (pls name a weaker pool than Giroud, Welbeck, Sanogo? they will go down along the midfield axis of Doom that was Denilson/Diaby/Song/Eboue).

It's absolutely unacceptable that he gets away with this shit every summer. And yet, his a apologists will find excuses! We are already hearing that there's not many out there significantly superior to Coquelin..Jackson Martinez "not good enough"...that Cech will "win an extra 12-15 pts" (LOL)..

Cech isn't playing behind Terry, Ivanovic and Matic anymore with Azpilicueta covering.
He's playing with the gentle gimp from Germany, an unproven kid who had 4 decent months. He's going to be exposed a lot more and I don't think his reflexes or anticipation are as good as il they once were.
Wenger is leaving us way short again and it's a Disgrace.

As usual, none of the players who moved were good enough for us. But the same group who did Jack shit in the league are good enough. Go figure.

If we assume that the top four is the target, which it is, then I don’t suppose it would be such a surprise if we didn’t add anyone else but Cech.

Doing the bare minimum, right?

You all know the old coot won’t move until 31/8 though.
