Imagine Theo, Chambers, Ox, and Gibbs turning up for pre season training to face the beast that is Diego Simeone, they would piss their y-fronts, and be crying for 'daddy' Wenger in no time.

He might turn some of our mediocre players into half to decent players.

I'd love a "Clough at Leeds" moment when Simeone tells them to take all their 4th place trophies, most points in a calendar year trophies and expected goals trophies and chuck them in a skip.

Imagine watching us go one up in a big game and not spend the rest of the game shitting it, awaiting the inevitable collapse....those were the days.

Would be a great image !

Even a more moderate GG style approach when he took over and apparently looked around the dressing room and said "You are good players. Why haven't you won anything?"

But of course, as well as our 2 FA Cups and Community Shields we also have that stellar list of virtual pots you mention and the groundsman and programme designer also need to be excluded from the hit list given the honours they have won

Signed an extension with Atlético only this time last year, loves the club, is clearly 'building a project' over there, has turned down offers to leave Atlético already, has said he's not that fussed about managing in the Premier League.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

I would love to have Simeone at Arsenal, but even if Wanker decides to call it quits next season, he will undoubtedly choose his successor, and it will be someone the polar opposite of Simeone. There is a very real chance that when Wenger leaves the dugout, his successor will be someone, we have never heard of. Whoever that puppet is, will be dictated to, by Wenger, on every issue. Could you imagine Wenger allowing Simeone to come in, achieve actual success, and discard of the dross, that Wenger propped up as world class, Wenger's ego wont allow it.

I for one have never thought Atletico to be playing terrible football or boring to watch, but maybe it's just me who enjoys watching a team spot on discipline playing for the team and not themselves. They've scored the same amount of league goals as we have but have a bang solid defense! What a fundament to rely on. What Atletico have achieved under Simeone is spectacular and I would like to add to list above to players they've sold: De Gea - all without weakening themselves completely. This is the second time they've sent out the Barca whores in CL, two seasons ago they won La Liga in front of Real and Barca - two teams who score 100+ goals per season. Each season they make the right buy, and if it turns out wrong anyway they let the player go not give him a raise.

What is wrong with Arsenal? THE FANS! Having a majority of fans so fucking stupid they want to see their team playing pussyball season in season out, that is the problem, that is why Wenger can sit comfortably still. All teams at some point have a bad manager or one that just can't do the job no more, that is where the fans are supposed to show their dissatisfaction ffs. I don't even want to blame Wenger anymore, world is full of delusional idiots like him, it's the fact that most of us let him go on like that. The king's power is abstract, it demands subjects to exist.

I think this is so near the reality it is frightening. Arsenal won't go for a big name proven manager as it would increase the pressure on the club to spend money and genuinely compete. Our owner doesn't want to do that does he? He wants top four and CL money every year. That'll do! You don't need to try and win the league!
Also, one thing we do absolutely know about AW is that he is a proud stubborn man. He couldn't cope with the next manager coming in and achieving what he had failed to do. He would need there to be a break of a few years before any manager could return us to the type of team we were circa 2004. For that reason he will be heavily involved in the appointment of his successor and that won't be a big name.

Anyway, it's all speculation because AW will be here next season and I expect for a couple more after that.

But, but Rob what would that do to our beautiful, Barca-lite, total football that he has spent so many years perfecting....

How can you possibly want to go back to the old 1-0 to the Arsenal days you heathen!! :banghead: :banghead:

Oh and think what it would mean for the JCL's and tourists, they wouldn't be able to enjoy their days out so much watching boring turgid football and maybe, just maybe not seeing so many goals scored against us :?

Another reason you cannot have Wenger "upstairs", all his little protected ones would be running to him every time they were unhappy. And as mentioned elsewhere here, if Wenger is upstairs he will ensure that a no namer is instilled in his place. Somebody he can manipulate, bully and ensure that he is not overly successful.

Wenger needs to go completely, unfortunately it will not be without a fight as he probably knows, who is going to want him???

Someone of the radio made a salient point that Griezman at Atletico has been pushed really hard by Simeone. You have to wonder whether he's be the same player with us or whether he's be another lazy, underachieving selfie taking millionaires who only ever talk about titles.

I have no idea of what kind of manager Simeone would turn out to be with Arsenal but I'd take him tomorrow just for him and his team to give this lot a kick up the backside and in most cases a kick out the door.
