SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yes, amazing isn't it. What are they playing at? Haven't they heard that the earth beneath their feet is supposed to collapse when you don't qualify for the CL, and that life itself is barely worth living without it. Haven't they also heard Wenger state that foreign players ask "do you play in the Champions League?". Still I suppose they'll have to sell Bale unlike us who have managed to keep hold of their best players every season without fail courtesy of the orgasmic achievement of 16 consecutive years of playing in the only cup that matters
Presumably Bale wanted the club to show signs of ambition, and thus they've gone out and signed what looks to be a great player in the hopes that Bale will stay.

When one of our best players is considering leaving and wants to be reassured about our ambition? "Nope, we can't do that, you'll have to just leave instead. No player is bigger than the club".

Yeah, it's an absolute piss-take. And all the AKB's can do is pitch the blame on the player who wanted our club to be successful, but left because it wasn't going to happen.

And then boo them when they come back to the magical concrete bowl with all the medals they've since collected (even though they only left for the money, honest).

a) There is nothing to suggest that the Scum signed Paulinho because of Bale
b) They needed a midfielder. Parker is getting older and the rest are nothing special, particularly defensively
c) Paulinho didn't look anything special in The Confederations Cup
d) I don't think we'd be dancing in the aisles if we'd signed him

I know we're frustrated, but that doesn't mean that everything that happens in the world demonstrates that we're shit.
However, if we don't confirm Higuain soon .......

Simples :
1.Want Higuain - pay the money
2.Want Fellani - pay the money
3.Want Cesar - pay the money
4.Want Bender - pay the money

Quite a straight forward situation really.....fucking Arsenal!

Funny, as we bought Poldi, Giroud and Cazorla before selling Judas last summer. Still went didn't he, but why let facts get in the way of a good whinge. :D

We should always pay whatever any club demands for sayer we want?
Incidentally BayL say Bender is not for sale at any price, what "money" we pay there?
If you want the best possible deal you have to be willing to miss out
saying we will always "pay the money" and you become ManCiteh

Lets hope we can get some deals done, don't want the club ripped off

If we have the war chest and want the player for the right reason then pay it rather than haggling like pikeys for a knock off discount.....that's what I'm saying. Watch the shit hit the fan (I hope) if we don't sign any of these who would clearly make a massive difference

And you don't think the forwards were purchased because the club knew RVP wasn't staying? :rubchin: :rubchin: Even then, I hardly think buying a French forward with one year's experience in Ligue 1; a forward who is now primarily a reserve for his national side and whose club side got relegated to the German second division, and a spanish reserve midfielder that had hardly set the football world alight until the previous season, were the kind of stellar signings that proved we were seriously about competing and that were going to convince RVP to stay!! :rubchin:   :? :?

He did score goal, and he ran up and down the field. A JW type...have said that, it is not as saying he will be a succes....he has to get use to the climate, tempo in the game, the press, the works...but i think he will shine..hopefully i am wrong

So both, when we get no one because of the miserly obsession (because it's a money business, which I find as reprehensible as you before you start) enjoy the moral high ground as we fall further behind....if we want these players buy them, if we don't fine. Either way Arsenal, just stop fucking around and for once get a full pre season with the next seasons squad

Seeing as I've stumbled on the scum appreciation society transfer thread, just thought I'd mention a few things

Paulinho was scouted by us last year, twas in the papers and I think either sid lowe or vickery confirmed it on beeb website/radio can't remember which and at the time he stated that Paulinho was decent but wouldn't leave just yet as he(Paulinho) didn't think he was ready for Europe but now he believes he is.

Villas Boas spent his time off from the game(When Red Roman sacked him) in Brazil so knows the market extensively and probably has the knd of contacts and personal link with clubs and possibly agenst out there that the scum can now exploit and also having a football man like Baldini involved with transfer unlke the bulls**t artist that was Comolli or the business oriented Ivan will help get signings like this sorted asap.

David Dein was kng at this but he's not coming back anytime soon, so we have to grin and bear this crap of ridiculously protracted transfers wth the possibility of us losing out on potential targets.
