Draxler was a guest on SKY this morning. Confirmed that we offered the price asked by Schalke, confirmed he was ready to leave but the Schalke President blocked the move.

How about the barefaced lie from Wenker that it was all made up by the press ?? What an honourable guy he is.

I was referring specifically to those that were moaning about us not ponying up the cash.

Everybody and his dog has been moaning about a striker from the summer and Wenger hasnt "ponied up the cash".
Dont see how another midfielder in Draxler not coming makes a blind bit of difference. Bottom line is we didnt buy a striker.

If we met the fee in the release clause, how could someone still block it, surely its a contractual thing :rubchin: :?

He's just another person who we can add to the list of people who are hell-bent on denying Wenger glory :rubchin:

I wasn't particularly fussed on him anyway but yet again he's another player we purported to be interested in but wouldn't pay the price needed to get him. No more, no less.

If anyone gives a toss:
@JanAageFjortoft

My view. Based on my information.

Bayern Munich managed to stop the Draxler-deal by saying "we take him in the summer".

Aside from the fact it seems ludicrous that Schalke would rather see him stay in Germany again it's the suggestion that the deal was taken out of our hands. Just like with Higuain where Real Madrid supposedly agreed to sell him for about £8m less than he was worth before dragging it out then reneging on the deal.

There was nobody else in for him, we had a free run at him and we wouldn't pay what was required.

Why would Schalke sell him domestically when he can go to England and not a rival?

For the same reason Borussia sold Gotze to Bayern. Don't underestimate Bayern's power.

If Draxler wants to leave Schalke but stay in Germany, he'll move to Bayern. Also Schalke previously sold Neuer to Bayern.
