His answer will probably be "Everyone thinks they have the prettiest wife" Remember that little gem?? Directed at the multi, multi trophy winner Ferguson, I think.
I actually thought that quote was brilliant.

Difference being that he could back up that sort of arrogance back then.

I'm not sure that morning rapists have the necessary knowledge to make that judgement ?

Anyway, how many manager of the decade awards has Simione got eh ?

Tonight Tuchel's team are strutting their stuff.

The game at the highest level these days is all about young, dynamic managers.

We have a dinosaur in charge
Mind you Klopp isn't too bad either

Me too. Amazed by the spirit he awoke in that bunch of mediocrity. Obvious how he has been working with the young players since he came. Let's hope for Simeone instead, as if :banghead:

Great game tonight Victims-Dortmund, have seen some top games this season in Europa League, more than in Champions League anyway. Klopp shows respect to the tournament, glad to see it. Why does Le Fool believe he can win Champions Legaue, he wouldn't be able to win Europa League he would be up against teams wanting to win. The truth is Le Fool wouldn't be able to win any tournament where he'd be up against sides really wanting to win it.

I wonder what excuses he'd have if Leicester win the league, Man C the CL, Man U the FA Cup and Victims the Europa as unlikely as that may be and we win... well nothing except the much coveted 3rd place trophy :rubchin:

Ooops forgot the Charity Shield too :barscarf:

I dont understand how the media and pundits rate Wenger, whilst at the same time have no expectations of him.

Example, imagine a parent interacting with two kids both of which are in school. One is capable, and one not. The good student gets a B on his test when he usually gets A's - the parent scolds him. However, the poor students who usually gets F's gets a D - he gets praised. The parent should theoretically hold both kids in the same regard, but given the different capabilities, the parent has lower expectations of the lesser capable kid and will make excuses for him.

This is the case with the media, pundits and Arsene Wenger relative to other managers. When Wenger loses against Barcelona, its 'oh its Barcelona, what did you expect'. But at the same time the pundits and media dont 'expect' Atletico Madrid to lose - they actually believe they can be competitive and even win, which they did. Its obvious on a subconscious level the media and pundits hold Wenger and Simeone to different standards - Simeone is capable and thus there are high expectations of him. Whilst Wenger is un-capable and there is low (or no) expectations of him. Why are Wenger and Simeone not being held to the same standard? Why are excuses being made for Wenger? Excuses that dont apply to Simeone?

This is the irony and of it all. The Wenger disciples dont really expect Arsenal to win or be successful, yet at the same time they talk up Wenger and defend his position :banghead:

Which is it? Is Wenger a brilliant manager who should he held to high standards? Or is he a limited manager who needs excuses made up for his inability to succeed relative to other managers???????? You can have it both ways - yet the media, and pundits have it both ways. They have low expectations of Wenger, yet talk him up as a brilliant manager at the same time...............WTF

Keown interviewing Bergkamp now... what hope do we ever have of getting rid of Wenger??

"Arsenal’s erratic form has sparked a lot of anger in the stands but, like many former Arsenal players, Dennis is respectful when he talks about the future of Wenger. We all know what he did not just for our club but for English football and he deserves to leave on his own terms

‘He knows his players so well,’ says Dennis. ‘It’s like a puzzle, he’s adjusting every player all the time so everything fits together. He’s got a picture in his mind how it should be. And he knew when to push the team, when to let go, when to relax.

‘I still think he’s got that drive and if he gets the opportunity to stay there, he will take it I’m sure. He’s still a good manager and you never know what you’ll get if you bring a new one in. That’s the problem.

‘Look what happened at Man United when Sir Alex Ferguson left. You never know what’s better. To bring someone new, someone fresh or stick to someone who knows the club. I’m sure (Wenger) is still ambitious to win trophies. As long as you don’t lose the connection with the team.’

When to push the team, when to let go, when to relax??? Push to Christmas, let EVERYTHING go in February, push a leeetle until CL is secured then relax... rinse, repeat, rinse.....

These former Arsenal players should stay out of the clubs business.

The Man United and Alex Ferguson comparisons are so intellectually dishonest.

Devil's advocate here, maybe the former players only remember the Wenger they played under. The Wenger that was involved in a competitive Arsenal.. If Bergkamp. Keown etc were around today would the tolerate the passive club Arsenal have become? So when they defend Wenger that is the question they should be asked. "would you be happy playing for the current Arsenal, accepting defeat and calling top four finishes a success?"

indeed, holding wenger up to a standard of a man who beat us 8-2 and won the title 6 times in his last 8 years in charge of the club, finishing second every other year and got to three CL finals winning one

we're comparing him to a man who made diaby, bendtner, squilachi, park, chamakh and walcott millionaires. in a time of supposed financial difficulty for our club no less
