SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yes, amazing isn't it. What are they playing at? Haven't they heard that the earth beneath their feet is supposed to collapse when you don't qualify for the CL, and that life itself is barely worth living without it. Haven't they also heard Wenger state that foreign players ask "do you play in the Champions League?". Still I suppose they'll have to sell Bale unlike us who have managed to keep hold of their best players every season without fail courtesy of the orgasmic achievement of 16 consecutive years of playing in the only cup that matters
Presumably Bale wanted the club to show signs of ambition, and thus they've gone out and signed what looks to be a great player in the hopes that Bale will stay.

When one of our best players is considering leaving and wants to be reassured about our ambition? "Nope, we can't do that, you'll have to just leave instead. No player is bigger than the club".
Funny, as we bought Poldi, Giroud and Cazorla before selling Judas last summer. Still went didn't he, but why let facts get in the way of a good whinge. :D
And you don't think the forwards were purchased because the club knew RVP wasn't staying? :rubchin: :rubchin: Even then, I hardly think buying a French forward with one year's experience in Ligue 1; a forward who is now primarily a reserve for his national side and whose club side got relegated to the German second division, and a spanish reserve midfielder that had hardly set the football world alight until the previous season, were the kind of stellar signings that proved we were seriously about competing and that were going to convince RVP to stay!! :rubchin:   :? :?
And yet the signing of Paulinho - a player no one had heard of until this summer - is apparently enough to keep the chimp happy at the scum?

Didn't think tight wad Levy liked buying old players with nil resale value but this summer he's eyeing up David Villa and now going for Gomez.
He is anything but that.
If we had splashed out like Spurs have of late we would have had a better chance of success.

Just because he was wrong in his original assumption doesn't mean you were right in your subsequent assertion !!

Why are people still saying no one had heard of him till this summer.

McD 42 mentioned him in last year's BS transfer thread, it was widely reported at the time that we'd placed a bid for him but his club didn't want to sell

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=34148&p=759896&hili ... ho#p759896

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... o-bid.html

This s the frst summer scum fans are showing some happiness with tight wad Levy's dealngs and they are not actually down to him for once. They've spent the last 5 years getting frustrated wth him waiting till the 5thmin of the final hopur before getting someone in. This is the same chairman who decided that in Jan2012 when they were in a good position to push for their highest league finish for decades and needed reinforcements, he got in Ryan Nelsen and the eternal crock that is Louis Saha.

Paulinho is a very good player and I said we should go back in for hm back in May before the confed cup but they got him. We can only hope we get the players we are lnked with, failng that I still believe AW will be gone if we get fuck all next season, with or without a whole set of top signings so for me there's no negatives for next season. :barscarf:

So I ask again, why the nickname?
He seems to spends much more readily than our board/manager do?

And yes, I know their fans grumble about them buying players late into the transfer window to save money on summer wages, but one look at our dealings two summers ago and this summer reveal much the same at our place.

A tight wad to me,you and most people we both probably know is one who will not put their hand in their wallet till they absolutely have to and will tyr and spend the least possible. Just because we are tighter doesn't make hm any less tight. They have one of the richest men in the world who owns most of the club, they are a bigger club than all bar us,Utd,Pool and possibly chavs yet have never gone the distance to get that marquee signing when they have really needed to.

They do not grumble because it's to save wages, they grumble because it's to get the price as cheaply as he can by doing it at the last minute so the sellng club has no choice

A cheap bastard is still a cheap bastard even if there are others even cheaper than him.

Why all the panicking? I'm sure good things are going to happen.
Would be very surprised if Higuain is not already done.
Roll on the new season.

There's a definite tendency among some posters (although the biggest culprit is long gone) of talking up the Scum to highlight frustration with our club. I can't bring myself to check out any Scum websites but I can't believe they're happy with their transfer dealings.
Paulinho may, or may not, be a good player but surely they're desperate for a striker or three. At the moment, an ageing and inconsistent Defoe is their only striker. Our below-par strike force seems like a surfeit of riches compared to theirs.
At the moment, imo, they're one injury to Monkeyboy away from a season without European football.

155 pages and just one crock signed. Here's a thought Arsenal, how about try and do what other clubs do and do the transfer business EARLY? I'm sure they do this on purpose just to save on wages on the incoming player(s), why not get them in early so they can bed in BEFORE the actual fucking season starts!!!

I love how there's supposed to be a direct correlation between the pages of bollocks posted on an internet transfer rumours thread to the number of players signed by a professional football club.
