The January "He Looks Quite Good" Transfer Thread

This guy is 30 yrs old. Shouldn't we be looking for someone a bit younger?

Meh, I'd take Evans if he's cheap. Our CBs are hardly in a great shape, with BGV retiring and Koscielny crocked. Plus, Evans will have been defensively coached, which our lot never are. That would be useful for a few months, until it's coached out of him.

It's really sad and unsurprising to see us hardly going balls out to improve the squad and not to even attempt to get a jump on replacing Sanchez and Ozil in this window. It's not like we're the second richest club in the world or anything  :banghead:

The Old Fraud would rather ban the January window altogether and seeing as the VT suddenly 'doesn't matter' anymore thanks to the PL's TV money, he's hardly going to make a desperate Arshavin-style signing at ten to midnight. We have learned over the last several years that January windows are almost pointless for this club whilst TOF is here. He rarely makes more than a couple of reserve signings, like Eisfeld, Miyaichi and other youth players from abroad that barely make any news.

The next level is the next level 8)

No, let's just sign a Greek pubber for our reserves, who can be loaned out until his contract expires, never making more then a few token PL starts. Fucking banter club :suicide:

If the scousers sign a decent pair of full backs with that money, they’ll be Man City’s biggest challengers for the next couple of years.

Once upon a time, the thought of us signing a shit bag nobody like Jonny fucking Evans would have driven me mad. Now, thanks to *word censored* face Arsehole Wanker, I've realised, he's the limit of our signing ambitions. In fact, I'd even say, he's the classic Wanker signing. The type of fucking bang average, not-too-shit but just-not-good enough to change anything player that sums up the waste of the last 14 years of Wanker's time. And still people defend this *word censored*. Fucking hell.

No they won’t because like us they have a systemic issue with defending that new personnel will improve slightly but not remedy. They’re barely better than us, albeit ten times more exciting to watch most of the time.

Plus they’ve got cloggers like Jordan Henderson and James Milner in their engine room. Fucking garbage.

Conte is a madman who will be gone within 12 months but Chelsea have by far the most rounded team after City.

I would say someone a bit less shit.

Tbh this signing wouldn't be that bad assuming Wenger is fucking off soon. Whoever comes in has a hard enough job as it is. Clearing out old shit Wenger signings, should be easier than clearing out young expensive Wenger signings.

I see another one of our 'nearly signed XI' will retain his place in that team, when Lemar signs for Liverpool as Coutinho buggers off to the land of card waving fairies. Hopefully he'll be able to supply our nearly signed goal machine Higuaín with the assists he needs !

I thank god that gone are the days that the biggest clubs in the world come calling with massive money trying to buy our world class players - we can now breathe easy knowing that after this summer, no half decent club will want to sign any of the gutless c.unts that will be playing for us

We aren't scraping 4th anymore, can you see us finishing ahead of City, United, Chelsea or Liverpool?, it is a 5th place play-off between Spuds and us, and the only reason we have a chance is because they are playing at Wembley and dropping a few points that they would probably not do at home.

Next season without Sanchez and possibly Ozil we'll be a distant 6th and that is only because beyond the "$big 6$" the PL is crap. I don't expect us to improve until Wenger goes and even then it's 50/50 really as we all know wiggy c*nt wont finance spending like at Chavs, City or Utd, so we're relying on the next manager being pretty good and signing up knowing he will have a limited budget.

I beg to differ ser'ah, our mighty mid-table rivals will want to poach out wonderful mid-table players for peanuts, and our wonderful midtable manager and midtable owner will bow to the mighty Evertons, Watfords, Leicesters and Burnley as they will be unable to retain our best midtable players in the face of aggressive midtable tapping up and the lack of midtable financial fair play in the EPL, you mark my words :barscarf:

So we're in the running for a CB from a team in the relegation zone???
Then again Steve Bould was signed from Stoke and he was a CB in the worst ever team that played in the old Division One. Stoke got relegated with only 14 points.
Isn't there a defender in a mid table Spanish team that we could sign?

I wonder how many deals the club can get done if Wenger goes to Liberia to celebrate George Weah inauguration as President?

I still think we can finish ahead of Liverpool - that’s no credit to us though, it’s simply because their defence is so shit. That said, will be interesting to see what happens with Van Dyke/the rest of the Coutinho money

Agree on the big 6 stuff - I think it’s going to be a case of expectations being lowered once again. Sky Sports and the rest of the media have been having this annual wankathon over ‘Top 4’ for years now, this will (or has already) become the ‘Big 6’ Only a matter of time before Wenger starts using that a justification, the same he has with top 4

Can he play in goal...? Can’t be any worse than Cech
